Yeah, as Mortified says really, it's generally regarded as one of their worst albums.
I normally disregard the first 2, as they were recorded in a different vein, a different genre of music; I also disregard the covers albums, as they weren't their own songs and again were 'different'.
I don't think the other albums you've listed are great (except NTL), but I prefer them to PR. PR is my least favourite original, studio Quo album (disregarding PMMFTSQ and Spare Parts). It is so 'unrock like'; at least everything else makes an effort. But as Billy says, different people, different opinions. I think there was a board member once who preferred PR to Hello! Nowt wrong with that!
I actually don't care how albums are regarded by others. I do care though, whether I like them - or not. So I don't mind your having different views .. I'd call it eccentric, but isn't that something Brits are famous for .. ? I don't think he was British actually!

I know someone posted this quite recently but I don't think I need an excuse to put this one up again. I absolutely love Little White Lies....I know it's not classic Quo but it's beautiful. One of those non-Quolike Quo songs that I love. The instrumental and the outro just make me tingle!

No song for today has been posted, so I opt for a very early cover which I happen to love: I'm not familiar with that's but really enjoyed it, Good Call

I've had it for a while on a non-official compilation I got from e-bay and then it was included in the BBC 8 disc box. Don't know if it has ever been included on any other official compilation though. I've always liked the song and think they did a great version - suits Francis' young voice perfectly IMO. Would have to look it up if they even already called themselves Quo then. They were so young - most of disc one is them playing as Spectres still.

So do I I know it's not classic Quo - It has been released 18 years ago. How long does it take for something to become classic ? Had it been a 70s song 18 years would be late 80s or 90s even ....but it's beautiful. Absolutely ! One of those non-Quolike Quo songs - What's non-Quolike about it ? Quo have always been about melodies and harmonies as well and recorded all kinds of songs.that I love. yep The instrumental and the outro just make me tingle! ..

Judy In Disguise first turned up on one of the re-releases of Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From..... It's certainly on the deluxe edition. That was the first time I came across it. This was 2003. It may have been available before that but I'm not sure. They were definitely Quo then. Or rather THE Status Quo. As old BBC DJ Keith Fordyce says when introducing them. Correctly pronouncing the Latin believe it or not!

It was Brian Matthew introducing them. I recognised the voice but got the name wrong. I've never heard of Dave Symonds! The date given in the CD liner notes is 17th Feb 1968 on a show called The Saturday Club. But I guess its all academic really. Bottom line is, it's a good track.

Today I thought we'd have this. Love this one tucked away down the list on an album of 16 songs. A cracker.

Alas, I'm not a Mountain Lady fan. Not even the remix I used to take a bit of stick for that on the old official message board. Probably served me right

Like Mountain Lady, but love Good Sign. Mountain Lady certainly is one of the best from what I consider a very bad album, but Good Sign is another one I'd place among Rick's very best song writing efforts, same as LWL. Would've loved to hear it live.. Actually they could do it now ! While Rick's voice may not have been up for it any longer, Ritchie's certainly is. And it would be a new Rick track - no comparisons could be made that would hinder the enjoyment. Concerning JID, that's interesting mortified . The liner notes from the box set saying 16th and the CD 17th .. Maybe they played the same songs on both shows ?

Good selections today craydarr and mortified, enjoyed listening to both. I nearly posted Good Sign the other day but opted for Little White Lies instead. Another reminder of how many great songs this band has.

There's only about three songs that I like from Back To Back and this is probably my favourite by quite some distance. I think it's tremendous but I am wearing my tin hat as I type this.
Even my Dad likes this one which slightly annoyed me at the time but that doesn't bother me now.

As I may have mentioned once or twice and as Her Royal Snakeness will testify, I'm no Quo ballad lover. But Too Close To The Ground is one of those few exceptions. And, yes, the best track on an otherwise pretty dreadful album. It was scheduled for release in the UK as the follow up single to Marguerita Time but the re-recorded Going Downtown Tonight got the nod and this ended up on the flip side. Big mistake frankly. This was a substantial hit single all day long. Not sure why I like it. Probably because of the melody. It has a slight blues feel to it. And, thankfully, the lyrics are top notch and don't detract from it. Rumour has it that Rick was meant to sing it; he did write it with Andy. And he wasn't best pleased. He should have sung it. Tailor made. Good one

So do I. What about this one, then? I thought it was going to be Tongue Tied at first so I was just going put "nah, thanks anyway" Luckily I read it properly. Good choice

Good choice You're so predictable, Billy Hold Me is a good one, @inna, but I think Alright is even better. They should've played one of these live instead of Gravy Train ! Maybe that's the reason why Rick didn't much like the album - because he didn't get to perform one of his own songs ?
