And now for a change of mood. The best song Quo never released. It'd be great to hear this tidied up. Re-recording it would maybe spoil it because Francis has lost that nasal quality in his voice. Quo's slower songs I think got poorer as they got older; more schmaltzy and almost easy listening. This is up there with A Year in my view.

I'd never heard that before so thanks for posting that and I think it would be interesting if the band revisited this one. I'm quite a fan of the ballads to be honest but I realise I'm in the minority on that one

Another song that would be nice to have in a half decent version indeed, same as Another Game In Town. I don't agree about the quality of ballads having worsened over time, they've merely become a lot rarer. Tongue Tied is a gem ! (Mystery Island though would support your theory :hlwn4: )

(Mystery Island though would support your theory ) I suppose it's a question of taste. If I like a ballad at all, it has to have something about it in terms of the melody to make it stand out. The more blues tinged or haunting the better. I'm afraid tracks like Tommy's In Love, Beautiful, 1000 Years and Sorry, for example, leave me cold.

Don't think anybody has done todays? Perfect Remedy Anyone? Not that keen on the album, although the band has recorded worse. PR is a nice little song and I like the sound of the album.

PMMFTMM, Spare Parts, Heat, NTL, 1982, DS, TW, Riffs, Party - not necessarily less, although there are one or two, but just as little. Why do you ask ?

Why do you ask ? I think it's because it's widely regarded to be their poorest along with Thirsty Work. It's usually a toss up between the two in any straw poll. All a matter of opinion of course.

For me that dubious title goes to 1982 and DS. Thank god, both recorded a long time ago and the string of records they've come up with since UTI has really been impressive

Please leave "Thirsty Work" alone, cos I luv it. I don't like the "Perfect Remedy" album, some good songs on there but crap production and arrangements.

DS I don't mind.. FILC would be the other crap album alongside Perfect Remedy.

I normally disregard the first 2, as they were recorded in a different vein, a different genre of music; I also disregard the covers albums, as they weren't their own songs and again were 'different'.
I don't think the other albums you've listed are great (except NTL), but I prefer them to PR. PR is my least favourite original, studio Quo album (disregarding PMMFTSQ and Spare Parts). It is so 'unrock like'; at least everything else makes an effort. But as Billy says, different people, different opinions. I think there was a board member once who preferred PR to Hello! Nowt wrong with that!

I actually don't care how albums are regarded by others. I do care though, whether I like them - or not. So I don't mind your having different views .. I'd call it eccentric, but isn't that something Brits are famous for .. ?

They didn't do a bad job of Judy In Disguise. All very sixties and groovy with Roy Lynes driving it along. That and Bloodhound are easily the best of their early tracks.
When I listen to Quo from back then, which is quite rare, I kind of see them as a poor man's Turtles - if anyone remembers them.
