Anyone interested in resurrecting this thread?
For some reason, I haven't been able to get this song out of my head the past few days.
I remember reading prior to the recording of Heavy Traffic that Francis and Bob had began to write together again and I was excited to read that.
I think that it was worth the long wait

Like the idea I hadn't listened to or even thought about the song for ages, although it's forever connected to my return to seeing Quo live, same as Heavy Traffic, and what a fantastic gig that was. Never would I've expected the energy and power the band exuded and the great atmosphere the audience created. And while we don't have an official release, at least we've got the Neza gig to save this set for posterity.

Always loved Solid Gold. I know many say it's a poor man's Roll Over Lay Down but I disagree. The chorus is catchy as hell and Francis's solo at the time was his best and most inventive in years. I miss it in the set. It powers along nicely encouraging your neck to move in rhythm. I remember they played two songs during the 2001 tour from "our album which is out next year". Can you imagine them doing that now? They don't even know if there is an album next year! The two songs were All Stand Up (then called Never Say Never) and Solid Gold and both made an immediate impression. It didn't do future sales any harm. I know we bang on about the set but chucking something like this in occasionally instead of Beginning Of The End and, say, Heavy Traffic instead of The Oriental, or something like that, would make all the difference. Just little tweaks. When (or if) they come back in 2019 - forget all that summer 2018 stuff which will be the same old same old - who knows? A new album and a few new songs in the set would get me enthusiastic again.

Next day- next song .. A few years ago I've created a CD for myself and named it 'Remixes and Specials' including all those single B-sides and stuff I like, but wouldn't have on CD otherwise. One of them has been going round my head since yesterday, don't know why. It's just a trivial little pop song, but so catchy ..

mortified, you've a better memory than I! I remember they played the two songs but I'd never have guessed that it was then. I remember the tours/shows but they all tend to blend into one. You're right though re the two new songs being played before they were released, imagine if the band had the courage? ambition? to do that now. Wasn't the tour even called Never Say Never? Perhaps I dreamt that
snakelady, I can't remember which of the single releases that I'll Never Get Over You was on but I do remember thinking that it should have been on the album. I prefer that song to several that actually made it on.

No you didn't dream it. It's actually plastered all over the front of the programme if I remember rightly. As for I'll Never Get Over You, that was the 'B-side' to All Around My Hat. Presumably it came from the same sessions as the Don't Stop album.

So who's coming up with a song for today .. ? I don't like the DS album and I'd have never considered buying that single. Actually at the time I had completely got away from Quo. It's only in recent years, thanks to yt that I learned about a lot of rare and interesting stuff, that would otherwise have escaped me completely. INGOY is just one of those and definitely not the best by far. I wasn't aware it was a cover either - maybe that's why I like it ?

I don't know how to put a youtube clip on here, but 'time to fly' is in my head for days. That's my song of the day.

Today we are having this. A huge favourite of mine and I love the 'moody' video First single by Quo I ever owned. My mum bought me it.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing not to like about In My Chair. Don't want to sound all poncey but I think it's got a great groove. I could sit and nod my head to that for ages. Good call mortified.

The great thing about a thread like this is it makes you listen to songs that aren't so obvious and which wouldn't necessarily land on my play list any time soon otherwise. Had forgotten how much I like Time To Fly mikebelgium32 . In My Chair is a classic - so cool A shame Quo no longer play it. There's one song deserves a return to the live set. I remember at Francis' solo gig Bernadette And The North played a version of it - good, but they should've kept to the solo of the original, Brilliance that simply can't be bettered. It was the song that got them the most applause by far.

I love Over And Done, Gary ! Well, I love the whole album and this is one of my absolute favourites from it. I've actually always thought that it was a rather improbable Alan song - too melodic and poppy even. For me it had Francis written all over it. Shows they weren't quite as one-dimensional as some have made them out to be.

I was at the St Lukes gig and I thought B & the Norths version of In My Chair was great.

My song for today is this After the Party album ISOTFC came as a big positive surprise. Most songs I loved straight away and this is one that has become one of my all time favourite Quo songs. To quote Rick: "I can't just sit down and listen to (our) the band, I've got to get up on my feet bopping". That's what this song does to me. I can't just listen to it - it's so infectious, the riff is one of the best the band has ever come up with IMO - it makes me move, every time, inevitably .. So it blew me away when Francis played it live on his solo tour. And it wasn't the only favourite of mine he played !

I think ISOTFC is full of great little songs and I was surprised when Rick didn't speak that highly of it.
I think often of Francis solo concert in The Queen's Hall, that genuinely was a great night. Didn't know what was coming up next and the night was full of surprises.

Mysteries from the ball is a great song imo. Off the top of my head, I think that was the last song credited to Rossi/Parfitt. Pity they didn't do more together. As for My Little Heartbreaker, I love it. I think it was a natural successor to The Oriental in the set. Same sort of tempo. Had they slotted it in during the Fourth Chord tour it could have stayed a while. But they didn't.

mikebelgium32 - Mysteries From The Ball is an interesting song, not bad at all. It's one of those I only discovered decades later, thanks to yt. And how to insert a video - it's easy really: See that black and white icon above in the last group of icons that resembles that thing they use for takes on film sets ? When you move your cursor on it it says'Insert Video'. Click it and then insert the address from your video of choice. Now all that's left to do is click 'insert Video' bottom right and once you've pressed 'post (Quick) Reply' the video will appear.
