OI, think it was a mistake to pre-order the 2CD (cum t.shirt) set just to make sure I'll get all the new songs available .. In the meantime I've learnt that CD2 is going to be a live CD. Well, what did I expect ? ..who needs yet another RAOTW or WYW. although, to be fair - it is a new set, not just the two new songs, and the first live CD from this line-up. So maybe, just maybe I'll listen to it more than once. I'd very much prefer a blueray though. It's been quite some time since we got the last video from a gig (and no, Wacken doesn't count, as that was the same old ) Was that not Last Night of the Electrics? I don't think we know yet what the live CD will consist of. It's still at the "TBC" stage; to be confirmed. It would be good if it was the (relatively) new set which includes Mystery Song, Backwater and the two new tracks. But my scepticism remains in place because an early announcement of that might have boosted pre-order sales a little. But you never know. We live in hope

Don't remember where though and the gig it's taken from wasn't mentioned ..

snakelady, it says on the pre-order site that it's a live CD but it doesn't give us any more info than that. That's probably where you read it. We don't even know if the tracks will be taken from one gig or if it will be a compilation taken from several released before (a la Quid Pro Quo). I'm hoping like everyone else that it'll be a completely new recording (i.e. previously unreleased versions) but I'm not holding my breath Even then, there have been that many live releases in the past few years it's hard to get excited about it.

There was also the Wacken CD, so this certainly won't be the first live CD from this line up! Maybe a mix of Wacken and LNOTE going by previous rip off bonuses.

I think that's the one song that really benefits from the band's mix. I find it almost untolerable in the regular version, it "fits" much better on the bonus disc. It's a strange thing, some songs sound okay, but others really hurt my ears in ways I thought were impossible. And that, in turns, hurts me as somebody who still considers himself a ZZ Top fan. I just don't appreciate where he's been going with regards to the ultra-compressed sound and autotune. And somebody on another forum said the vinyl also sounds like crap, unlike "La Futura" which still had decent engineering but was smashed to bits (and bytes) on CD... My point is that, had Joe Hardy not done all the engineering, the album might have sounded better. ( I'm talking about "The Big Bad Blues", by the way, if that hasn't been clear. Never bought "Perfectamundo".)Me too, although I did buy both. Or rather downloaded both. I'm not sure if that makes any difference sound wise. I had no problem with the sound of La Futura. I just didn't think it was that great an album despite all the hype it got about ZZ Top going back to what they did best. I preferred all of the albums that came immediately before it. Since Antenna anyway, which I wasn't that keen on. There was once a Backbone thread here Until I heard "I Gotsta Get Paid" live a few weeks ago, I never realized how good a song it is. That's how bad the mastering is on that CD. As for Backbone, I heard the single once. Exactly once. SWR1 probably thought it's not worth playing again

I did notice the number and position of Quo songs goes down with every yearly charts. Meaning they obviously don't get played.

Dang. This is disc 2. Disappointing! Disk: 2 1. Caroline (Live in Zurich) 2. Something About You Baby I Like (Live in Birmingham) 3. In The Army Now (Live in Birmingham) 4. Proposin' Medley (Live in Amsterdam) 5. Hold You Back (Live in Zurich) 6. Roll Over Lay Down (Live in Birmingham) 7. Down Down (Live in Zurich) 8. Whatever You Want (Live in Birmingham) 9. Rockin' All Over The World (Live in Zurich) 10. Rock And Roll Music/Bye Bye Johnny (Live in Zurich) None of the new tracks (which would've given buyers a nice alternative), no Backwater, no Little Lady, no Mystery Song! Instead we get another awful rendition of SBYBIL

Another opportunity is to download whatever songs you like from the album, from for example spotify.

But a strange mixture of songs. Tracks 6 to 9, exactly as they run in the set, but from two different venues? Oh well. I'm slightly disappointed but, given my level of expectation, not too downhearted

Interestingly one of the bonus tracks has been written by Ritchie as well. The young boys are getting quite some space to showcase their writing talents

Nice. Unless the songs are kerrap of course

Guess it's the times .. Most younger folk will certainly go for the streaming and can't be bothered with who gets what. Same as most older folk will want a physical product. Naturally there's always those who go with new technical developments .. I admit I don't feel comfortable with downloads or streaming. It doesn't feel like I actually own the songs, but rather like they could vanish with one electricity blackout. And I like to have an album sleeve, with notes, pics, lyrics ..

I never stream music (only TV) but I do download a lot. Pretty much the only physical product I buy is Quo related stuff. It is largely a generational thing, although there is cross-over into all methods of listening. I've never really paid much attention to the royalty issue, even when buying records back in the day. It's not something I ever thought about. I've just found it faintly interesting in retrospect. Statistically, keeping track of sales accurately in those days will have been almost impossible. And subject to, eh, manipulation I dare say there are still dirty tricks these days but I imagine Quo's income will come mainly from gigs, advance payments for albums and from songwriting publishing.

Currently 4 months into 6 months try for free Apple streaming service. It’s good but it’s amazing how much stuff isn’t on their database yet. It’s too heavy USA which is understandable for them.

I'm an old b*stard just recently trying the 'new' tech, I must admit for example spotify is rather convenient. For a rather low fee you get access to almost any music, then download any song or album you want to your phone/computer and then via bluetooth, listen everywhere in headphones,in the car and so on. I'm not sure but I've probably bought my last CD. EDIT; to those on fb, there's just been added a short snippet of Mr Malones song 'Get out of my head',really great riff imho.

Movies, games etc. It can also happen when a company goes under should noone else want to purchase the rights. Like when Prince took all of his music off of streaming sites years back because he didn't agree with digital sales. A lot of legacy artists straight up refuse digital versions of their albums. Cheers

Cheers Yeah, I remember that. I've been a big Prince fan for decades now; well, most of his stuff anyway. His soulful ballads you can keep. He was a prolific genius but he had some really daft ideas at times. Let's call it eccentricity

I just heard 20 seconds of Get out of my head. It was showed on facebook. I really like how it sounded. From what I have heard, it seems like it fits on the NTL album.
