Interesting title .. I don't mind it's merely 11 songs - if they're as good as the first two tunes we got to hear and if the album still contains some variation. Looking forward to this

Should be called 'Backache' Oi, they do work out to keep fit and Ritchie looks fit as a fiddle. If you're talking about the audience though, that might be a different matter ..

Is it me or does the intro to Backbone sound like the little chord sequence Fran does on stage before Down Down?

Given it’s only 11 tracks , it’s a real shame Never Too Old isn’t on there What is that for a song, Never Too Old? I remember Leon posted on FB a year ago (in August-September) that he did drum tracks for 12 songs, so one must be left out. Hope it will pop up as a B-side.

Is it me or does the intro to Backbone sound like the little chord sequence Fran does on stage before Down Down? I agree. If it is the title track. I presume so. The sleeve (again, if it is the sleeve) is much more subtle and enigmatic than we're used to. No twin guitars (obviously now); no cheeky chappies. A new marketing approach required. Refreshing. And it'll make the merchandise more attractive!

I notice that the very small sample that's been on the official website for a few days is no longer there and has been replaced with a full advert for the album.
Just an observation. Probably a spacial thing.

Well, most of us don't usually visit the official site that frequently any longer. So this generates interest and clicks (for what it's worth ?). Building up anticipation is what it's meant to be I suppose .. I did like the short snippet and will check out the advert later

The album is sitting to pre-order on iTunes but it's tucked away and well hidden. It's not even anywhere near the top of the list for Quo's albums under the artist's name. All the compilations are at the top, as you'd expect. Not Quo's market really to be fair, although Aquostic Stripped Bare was allocated front page and, eh, trending There are also no samples to try but I imagine when/if the single comes out, that will change. Oh, and there is Backbone merch (t-shirts etc.) to buy now from the store via the official site.

Is it me or does the intro to Backbone sound like the little chord sequence Fran does on stage before Down Down? This is what I'd been hoping for all along, because it always sounded like the beginning of a new song to me Given it’s only 11 tracks , it’s a real shame Never Too Old isn’t on there What is that for a song... This reminds me of my English before I could speak it properly Not wanting to be rude or anything but it sounds very German. [/offtopic] Worth quoting the tracklist with writers and the credits: Richie gets a song as does Leon. Only three Rossi/Young numbers. I'm not sure I've heard of Andy Brook but no Mike Paxman might be a good sign. Mixing and mastering by the same guy on the other hand, often is not. 01 - Waiting For A Woman - (Rossi/Young) 02 - Cut Me Some Slack - (Rossi/Edwards) 03 - Liberty Lane - (Rossi/Edwards) 04 - I See You're in Some Trouble - (Rossi/Young) 05 - Backing Off - (Bown/Rossi) 06 - I Wanna Run Away With You - (Rossi/Young) 07 - Backbone - (Rossi/Edwards) 08 - Better Take Care - (John David) 09 - Falling Off The World - (Cave) 10 - Get Out Of My Head - (Malone) 11 - Running Out Of Time - (Bown/Rossi) Produced by Francis Rossi Mixed by Francis Rossi & Andy Brook Engineered & Mastered by Andy Brook Recorded at ARSIS studio

I'd never heard of Andy Brook either. Then again, I'd never heard of John Eden back in the late 70's either. Your reference made me look at the Rossi/Rickard album. He was engineer but he didn't master it. That was Mike Paxman ironically. But I don't know the first thing about either role if I'm honest. I suppose you can have too many cooks; a producer, a mixer, an engineer and someone doing the mastering. Who makes the coffee?

Been trying to work out what to buy. I'm such an easy target for all this stuff However, the vinyl bundle and the CD box set with the extra live stuff should just about cover everything I need. Not bothered about the t-shirt but no other way of doing it I don't think. I bet I've got the live tracks as well. The 'tbc' reference suggests I probably do

Ok, I've ordered the two CD + t-shirt version, despite the superfluous t-shirt. Hope it's worth it. Couldn't find anywhere what's on CD2 ? If it's yet another version of the live set (cue how many live albums .. thread ) I'm going to shoot the one(s) responsible - and I'm a peaceful girl usually .

Yeah, the 'tbc' (to be confirmed) reference is an interesting one. That could mean anything - including that there won't be any live tracks after all! The fact that they're trying to sell as many of these things as possible suggests that the usual live suspects will be on there. Whether it's versions already released or new renditions by the present line up (not Last Night of the Electrics for example) remains to be seen. Not sure if I should pre-order or not. The Rick Parfitt pre-order was such a shambles - my sis is STILL waiting on the box with the t-shirt from Amazon but it's now been officially deleted - that I'm wary of going down that road.

I think I read somewhere that the live tracks will be from LNOTE. I think I ordered the same Over and Out package....I didn't get it either. By the time they admitted that I wasn't going to get it, I couldn't get the 2 CD version from anywhere so I just ended up buying the basic single CD version. I still haven't heard the 'band mix' version....was it much different?

But maybe there are those out there who think they're miles apart I'll maybe have another listen now you've brought the subject up

I don't usually pre-order either, but 29€ seems like a good deal to me (the t-shirt itself would cost more at the merch stand at a gig - although I'd never buy it .. ). And if prices go down further till release I'll get the reduction as well: link
Sounds indeed like a real shambles was made off Rick's box set, seeing that Neil experienced exactly the same. My guess is they underestimated demand and didn't produce enough of the things in the first place - and then couldn't be bothered with a second batch ..
