RICK PARFITT POSTHUMOUS SOLO ALBUM ON THE WAYWhen the awful news broke on Christmas Eve 2016 that legendary rocker Rick Parfitt had passed, fans around the world were devastated that one of rock's most iconic performers had been silenced.
However, unknown to almost anyone, Rick had in fact virtually completed his first solo album whilst undergoing a period of recuperation after his heart attack in July.
That album, poignantly titled 'Over And Out', will now be released on Friday 23rd March 2018 through earMUSIC.Source: metaltalk.net/news_seventeen/rick_parfitt_solo_album.phpmetaltalk.net/images10/Rick_Parfitt-Over_And_Out.jpg

I'll try and contain myself until I get home It just takes you to the Amazon page with the CD on. Can't see a track listing sadly, unless I'm just being daft and not seeing it, (quite possible) Very sad but great to see at the same time.

Thanks @bam.
I was hoping to see a track listing or writing credits, or just something.
No doubt we’ll hear more soon.

Thanks @bam . I was hoping to see a track listing or writing credits, or just something. No doubt we’ll hear more soon. Good old Google (http://teamrock.com/news/2017-12-01/rick-parfitt-solo-album-over-and-out-to-receive-posthumous-release): Although Parfitt had finished recording his guitar and vocal parts for the record, some tracks were not totally finished when he died. His son Rick Parfitt Jnr, along with John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, Alan Lancaster, Queen’s Brian May and Muse’s Chris Wolstenholme stepped in to ensure that the album could be completed. Over And Out features 10 new songs, including the title track which was played at Parfitt’s funeral and is said to be “an album of depth and passion.” A statement on the release continues: “Created by Rick Parfitt and Producer Jo Webb, the record is a true labour of love and showcases the softer side of Rick as a writer, artist and performer away from the Quo maelstrom as well as the purest rock and roll sound of earlier Status Quo records.” Rick Parfitt Over And Out tracklist

I think that's quite accolade to have Brian May and Chris Wolstenholme playing on your solo album.
Also, an interesting comment re showing the softer side of Rick as a writer.
Sounds as if there will be some "light and shade" on the album.
I'm looking forward to it.
There's now a piece on the official website about this.

I wonder if Halloween is a re-recording? or the original, because Rick did like that track from his original solo album

I wonder if Halloween is a re-recording? or the original, because Rick did like that track from his original solo album Probably better it's a different sounding re-recording and the whole first solo album finally gets a release. I've no idea though if that's the case .. I could imagine that depending on the sales figures of Over And Out a release of Recorded Delivery will be considered - or not. The contributions from big name friends like Brian May should help with that, but again, as always with Quo, the records don't sell automatically. People need to learn there's new stuff out, so some kind of marketing campaign - meaning some money spent on it - is required.

Really good news. Great to hear that there is some movement on this. Also interesting that, despite all the speculation, this is no PLC project. But it's great to see that both Alan and Rhino have been working on it. Rick's softer side? We hardly saw much else in the last few years Great sleeve (sorry @inna ) and I notice that there is a limited edition box set at £25 or so. Just read about it; I think it has two versions of the album. The original in 'raw' form and a remixed version.

I don't consider either solo album from the time as good, but both contain one or two interesting songs and deserve to be released, even if it's merely for completeness' or Quo history's sake. Nobody is forced to buy them, but would be nice to have that option and be able to decide. Maybe that deluxe edition that has been mentioned is a package of both of Rick's solo albums, old and new ?

Maybe that deluxe edition that has been mentioned is a package of both of Rick's solo albums, old and new ? Nope. I thought that at first as well. But it's two versions of the new album, one raw as recorded and one remixed by a producer. The 'statement' says that Rick liked both aspects of recording so they've produced two different versions. The more produced one will be 'cleaner' I suspect. Maybe more multi-layered even. Pip used to 'tinker' like that. As for his first solo album, the best tracks (I think anyway) have already been used but it would be nice to have it on an official basis. I imagine Halloween will be a re-recording. Unless he's written two!

We've recently had the RAOTW remix along with the original and I haven't listened to the original even once - what would be the point ? At least with Rick's record we haven't heard either version so far. My guess is though, they do release two versions as with it merely being 9 new songs, more money can be made from it this way. Rick liked both versions ? That'll be the reason, sure ..

Rick liked both versions ? That'll be the reason, sure .. Hmmmm, that's a bit cynical. On a specialist release like this (and it is specialist in that it will appeal to a limited number of people) it is really interesting to get two views of the songs. And Rick did have two (almost) conflicting sides - he was an out and out rocker but he also liked the softer side. So two different mixes/productions on the songs will be interesting. For those who have never been in a recording studio it will be an interesting lesson in how much difference production can make (provided the raw version really is raw). Can't wait, and I will be buying the deluxe version.

He apparently liked both types of recording in general; not the results of this particular album. He never got the chance to hear the finished product. Marketing and cynicism go hand in hand, especially with me. It's pretty easy to see through it all. But every artist now produces various formats of the same release. It's just the way of the world. There are 'deluxe' editions of almost every album now. They usually contain extra tracks to tempt the buyer. Box set for me. And probably the rest

Cant wait for this to come out. Brilliant news Apparently Ken Bruce played one of the tracks (presumably the first single) on his show this morning. A big production ballad called Without You.

Thanks for putting it up Bam.
It's not what I expected but I quite like it, and I'm sure it'll grow on me.
Possibly more vocally challenging than anything Rick sung with Quo.

Well I know I'll get shot for this but Without You is awful. Don't think his voice sounds that great and is just a terrible song. I can understand the sentiment from people but to my ears it made me want to cry out of sadness because it is so bad. Sorry folks.

Please tell me how it's bad in a musical way... We all know he's struggled with his voice for many years so what's new there?
Great lyrics, amazing structure and the dynamics throughout are excellent. It's a heartfelt "cheesy?" track that Rick was pretty much know for.
I've listened to it countless times because it's a great track IMHO
