Not much to say about this apart from it's probably my favourite song from that album.

We haven't had anybody contributing a song for a few days, so I'm going to add another one. This time one of my favourite covers: Must be really difficult to sing that fast, so I'd never expect to hear that one live .. Still I love how Francis sings it. When Quo started doing cover albums, I always thought that if they had to do them, then this is the kind of song that should be covered. Nothing wrong with a bit of Nick Lowe or Dave Edmunds. I still think that some of the songs that appeared on "Don't Stop" are strange choices.

'On the level' is my favourite album of the early golden era. Two nice songs from it have already been posted here. 'I saw the light' would win over 'Over and done' fore me, if I had to chose. But luckily I don't have to.

Think I've mentioned before that OTL is my favourite Quo album from the 70s as well and I love both - Over And Done as well as I Saw The Light !

I absolutely love Nightride; same as you though Kathrin, I think it grew on me! I think I've said previously; one of my favourite 'runs of songs' is Little Lady to Down Down; unbroken magic!

For no other reason than this is the first SQ single that I ever bought.
I know that there are those who say that this is where it all began to go "wrong" for the band but I loved this song then and I still do today.

I downloaded the 1982 rehearsals years ago from Mareno's site. Shame he never registered on here after the omb was closed. It's a fantastic version - maybe even better than the single version with the longer instrumental parts  So yep, perfect for me, Inna (Now shall we put up Rick's Baby Face for you :lolflg: ? )

It was my first Quo single as well, gary - though not bought, but simply recorded from the radio. Nothing wrong with it - rather the opposite: it did gain the band another fan ..

Ah, haven't seen those labels on the vinyls for a long time (as I only listen to CDs nowadays). Brings back some nice memories though, as does the golden hand on the album cover. Watching this video did make feel dizzy a bit, though

"Well, how time flies..." I really like this tune. I think Rick came up with the perfect Status Quo X-mas song. Lovely melody and a perfect mini solo. I love that little solo so much that I put the first video first, because it has the unedited version. The second video is the official promo video and the third one features an obviously uninvited guest dancer

Something to ease us into the weekend Oi, gary, I admit the only part of LOAI I really like is the outro - but that is really great (no matter what it is: synths, keyboard .. :dunce: ) I've always thought it funny how Rick would come up with a song Living On An Island when staying on a smaller Island, while basically living on one all of the time . @ Ingo - It is indeed a perfect Christmas pop song and so addictive. I love it ! How it fits the 'Rick the rocker' image though remains a mystery to me. Francis would've been crucified for it. Plus Rick even did another Christmas song the following year, though that probably won't ever get played again for obvious reasons ..

Feeling controversial this morning, Rich - putting up a song from TW ? Well, I admit SA does nothing for me. It's not a bad song, but it's .. I can take it or leave it .. The two outstanding tracks on TW for me are Soft In The Head and Lover Of The Human Race. I feel the rest suffers too much from a sterile production.

TW is a bit different indeed, but I like a bit of diversity in my Quo Sail Away brings some positive mood to this grey day today. I like quite a lot of songs from TW, even though the production indeed could have been better, and many sound a bit un-Quo. Tango I love, and Sorry, and Lover of the human race too, it's rare enough that Quo do meaningful lyrics. I remember being a bit worried that Rick might have some kind of Composer's Block. He was Probably not having the best of times back then. I do actually remember listening to the freshly bought CD. I was in my girl friend's student's room. It was so small, one could hardly turn around without throwing things from the shelves.

Your neighbours probably appreciate you being lazy today, but do they appreciate you being loud?

BFM is a strange one - I don't much like it on Piledriver and skip it on most live recordings - and I think it's one of those songs they've done to death and that need replacing urgently (maybe that explains the skipping as well ..). BUT I've left the occasional gig thinking BFM had been the best song of the night - first one that springs to mind would be the festival in Colmar, where they did an absolutely blinding version.

There are a few stonewall favourites which you don't like! That's not allowed you know!! :lolflg: I dare you to go on the other site and start a thread saying you don't like Big Fat Mama! I think they've already fallen out with you haven't they? You and Fisherman will have to start going to gigs in disguise! Oh no, they won't be there!!

Actually I've just been dressing up, if that counts as disguise ? (I don't do handbags though). As we'll be visiting the Christmas market prior to the gig, I've got to look the part :lolflg: Will have to leave soon .. Oi, I've never had any problems voicing my opinion on the side formerly known as dark - or on the omb prior to that - usually it's a question of how you do it .. Come to think of it, I prefer the 91 version of 4500x over the original and I can't stand DWMT anymore .. does that make me a hopeless cause ?
