Thought it was a while since I played some of my older Quo stuff, so as I'm working from home why not.
Started off with Perfect Remedy and it still ranks well down on the Quo order of greatness, but the tracks that are good on it are very good but there are too many duffers. Then moved onto Piledriver. What can you say except it still oozes excellence all these years later. Now I'm in the middle of 4th chord and really enjoying that as much as I did Piledriver.

Do you know what? I still think Backbone ranks right up there with the 70's stuff for sheer enjoyment.

I totally agree with what you have said so far 👍

Haven't done anything like this in ages. Most of my listening was done travelling to work. A thing of the past now. I'm hopeless at working and listening to music at the same time. I don't seem to have that discipline or focus. It's either one or the other for me. And the less I listen to music as I get older (and I have no idea why that is), the more I tend to concentrate on newer stuff. Things I haven't heard before. Or at least not very often. So I should probably stick on Perfect Remedy then, coz I haven't heard it all that often

I'll get onto a bit more Quo this afternoon, but this morning I'm giving Rockpile's Seconds of Pleasure a spin

This afternoon it's the Quo album. While it is probably Quo's heaviest album I think it's the weakest of the period to 1976. Still great by Quo's standards though. One thing always gets me is that it always gets referred to Alan's album which is not fair on Rick as he co-wrote most of it too.

And to that divisive of creatures Bula Quo. Personally apart from Mystery Island the album itself holds up really well. Some great songs. i think the mistake was releasing the title track as the lead single (though I think its pretty good on the album). Go Go Go or Looking for Caroline would have been better and wouldn't have put off the so called "hardcore".

Go Go Go or Looking for Caroline would have been better and wouldn't have put off the so called "hardcore". Totally agree. To give you an example of the bias aimed at the album, Mrs Mortified insists she doesn't like it. But she hasn't actually heard all of it! She also insists she has I'm pretty sure she's only heard the brief samples we got on the old website before it came out. Which, I think, were Go Go Go and All That Money. And the single of course. The movie has tainted everyone's view of what they think the album is like. And even tainted the views of some who have listened to it. It stands up well against anything they've released since 1999 in my view. It's also more balanced because there are only 9 new songs on it as opposed to the now obligatory 14 or 15. But, oh, that movie

Picked Blue For You for today’s journey. Great album fav track Mystery Song Least fav, Ease Your Mind Great album, I listened to it recently and still loved it. Re Mystery Song I’m not bothered about the single due to overplaying in the live set, but if you put on the album version it’s a completely different story. That intro and outro make such a difference to the song, it takes it to another level.

Sticking with NTL for tomorrows journey. Love Take me away and Carol to name a couple All tracks I enjoy, don't skip any. My least fav track is probably the very overrated Mountain Lady (to coin a well used phrase on the Quo message boards over the years, I think it has too much keyboard ) but that was also said about Backbone (the track) recently , the only difference is, there isn't any in that one.

There are keyboards on Backbone (track). Especially noticeable is an organ throughout the whole song. There's also a theremin-like sound that could be from a synth.

Only going by what Francis Rossi said in an interview. He said a fan had said he liked the song until the keyboards kicked in and went on to say the funny thing is there isn't any keyboards in that particular song.

I know the interview you say and I’ve always thought it very strange as there is very clearly something that sounds like keyboards on the track. If it isn’t keyboards, then what is it ?

Quo album for Monday’s trip One of my least favourite FF albums, has some good tracks on it like Fine Fine Fine, slow train, break the rules and lonely man. I don’t really play it that much.
