I saw them tour in the spring of 1979 when they were more or less doing If You Can't Stand The Heat. But the only song they did at the gigs I was at was Oh! What A Night. I've never heard a bootleg of it but it would be interesting to hear it without the female backing vocals. Here you go! Setlist; Caroline Roll Over Lay Down Backwater Rockers Rollin' ------------------------------------------- Is There A Better Way Hold You Back Gonna Teach You To Love MeLittle Lady Like A Good GirlRockin' All Over The World Oh! What A Night------------------------------------------- Dirty Water Forty Five Hundred Times Big Fat Mama Don't Waste My Time Roadhouse Blues ------------------------------------------- Rain Down Down Drum Solo Bye Bye Johnny I saw them on 02.02.79 The setlist I wrote down after the gig is a little bit different, so they obviously had been changing it around right from the start: Caroline Roll Over Lay Down Is There A Better Way Rockers Rollin' Gonna Teach You To Love Me Little Lady Backwater Hold You Back Like A Good Girl Rockin' All Over The World Oh What A Night 4500 Times Don't Waste My Time Big Fat Mama Dirty Water Roadhouse Blues 12.min. drum solo Rain Down Down Bye Bye Johnny Francis had fallen off the drum riser just the night before our gig. I only learnt about it when I bought the next Bravo magazine. I do remember the gig as maybe the worst Quo gig I've ever been to though. Guess that was the reason ..

Francis with blood on his shirt turned up on the pic sleeve of the What You're Proposing single in the UK. I wondered at the time what had happened although I've obviously found out since.
They did run about mad on stage in those days and obviously the "choreography" failed that once. Ouch!

By the time they got to the UK they only played "Oh! What A Night"... not too sure when "Like A Good Girl" was dropped but "Gonna Teach You To Love Me" didn't last longer than the European leg of the tour. Rossi got Ricks guitar headstock to the face during Forty Five Hundred Times in Hamburg, Germany (19th January), and on the 1st February he fell backwards off of the drum riser smashing his head off of a monitor.I remember a fan falling from a window at some gig on that fateful tour. He died. 21st January 1979, Wolfsburg Germany Was there a story on it at the time?

I remember a fan falling from a window at some gig on that fateful tour. He died. 21st January 1979, Wolfsburg Germany Was there a story on it at the time? There was a story in a youth magazine about Wolfsburg, how ugly the town was and how it led to aggression among youths, after some kids had destroyed the glass entrance of the hotel the band were staying in (a reporter was on tour with them for a few days at the time). The lethal accident wasn't mentioned though. He either wasn't aware of it or it was deemed too strong a topic for its customers .. Never seen any other report - maybe Inna knows more, considering she lives much closer to it.
