Quo recorded it during the "Under the influence" sessions and released it as a B-side of the single "The way it goes". Here's the original by Huey Smith that has been covered my numerous artists over the years: Uhmmm... would I get shot down in flames if I say the original is much better? But it is! Nah, we don't shoot doen nobody here. We don't have the equipment for that, our air force only has one Paper Plane... or wait: we have missiles flying over our heads in "In the army now" :oo:

The first version of Sea Cruise I came upon was from Don McLean:
.. but I had bought the album because of this:

??? An excerpt from Quo's worst DVD ever (and by far !) !
.. and it isn't a good version of OBTS either. Actually I don't think any of the songs Rick sings is any good with Hound Dog probably the worst of all.
Best song from FITLC IMO is When I'm Dead And Gone, but I couldn't find a video for it.
Another Quo cover I like is this:

I'm actually considering using the string-only intro as a ring tone for my phone and/or as a tune for my alarm clock (which is my phone, too, this smart thing )

Really love the acoustic version... ...but the original one, too. You would, being a Rick girl and all that .. I think Mystery Song loses compared to the original with all its varying elements, whereas Little Lady is indeed quite good.

On the Level is 40 this February. :oo: Here's John C. and his band with "Nightride". Not bad, is it? Going by the poll, the two of us are the only ones who love the song - or should I've said: the only ones who show a bit of taste 107

It's a bit quiet on here today, so I thought I'd add one of my favourite covers - love the way Francis sings it:

This always reminds me of the start of the Monkees track, Last Train To Clarksville.

I wasn't able to find the Southend Kursaal version, but there are two 75 recordings up on yt: @ Dale - Rolling Home would be an average track, but Alan's singing makes it a skip track for me. He had such a thin and strangled voice on album tracks. From today's POV you'd think he must've taken about the same amount of speed when writing it as Rick did for MS ..

I'm of to the Kursaal later with a few friends to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Roll Over Lay Down being recorded at the Southend venue. Also the On The Level album was at #1 in the UK and its my birthday, the 40th anniversary of my 18th..Sounds better then mentioned I'm 58 today..

Here's another one of my all-time Quo favourites: I love the lyrics. And the heavy bluesy sound, of course. When B. and the North supported Francis in 2010 they got their best audience reaction for their rendition of IMC :

Where did you unearth this thread .. As we're doing a 90s poll at the moment, here's one of my favourite 90s tracks, which sadly won't make the next round, as not enough people know it (or like it .. )

I've never had a bad night with Quo. Make that 'I've nearly never had a bad night with Quo' and I agree. They're only human after all.

I've never had a bad night with Quo. Neither have I. I've read reviews of the concert that I'd just attended and the "critic" was obviously at a different one from the one that I was.

I've never liked the song on the album - I've always thought it sounds like the band forced themselves to recreate their 70s selves, when in reality they had come a long way since then, a bad copy so to speak. Watching this made me change my mind about it live though. It's probably a good live song if played just a little bit slower and the sound becoming a bit heavier in consequence. So yep, I'd love to hear the current line-up have a go at it. What makes me doubt it can happen is, I doubt Francis is able to still sing it.

I remember hearing this live before listening to it on CD. I had heard the 2 singles from the Perfect Remedy album and thought they were poor, but after hearing The Power Of Rock n Roll live at the NEC Birmingham, I bought the album but was disappointed with the studio recording.

Yes, I think it's great, too. Here's another one of Quo's gems:    I know I'm the minority here, but out of Rick's songs from RTYD I very much prefer Good Sign:
