I’ve only heard some of it, not all of it but what I have heard, I think it’s fantastic.
Better Take Care is my current favourite.

It's very quiet here. People must be busy listening and preparing for the reviews.

I've decided with this album not to kill it by overpaying it. On my 3rd listen. Waiting for my cd to arrive (got delivered to work and I'm home after my shoulder op) so listening to the standard version on Spotify (I have heard the bonus tracks Isaac). Improves with each listen. Don't understand those who say it's lite. It might not be Piledriver but it does rock.

It's a bit different Kathryn....possibly partly because it's still new, but it is a bit different (imo). Some will disagree but I would say it is more rock than pop. I think LL is the most obviously poppy track. This album has given us a problem with initials! BB can now be Burning Bridges or Backbone. And LL could be Little Lady or Liberty Lane! #confused.com

Have just started listening - into second song (random mode = I Wanna Run Away With You) now: Yep, definitely more rock than pop. Like what I hear so far. Sound is spot on too.

I've listened to it once though so far. Other than Liberty Lane, only Waiting for a Woman stands out - for the wrong reason. Quirky, bit like The Oriental. Not sure if that was the best choice for opening the album.
I think the album misses Rick's input, as his songs were 'rockier' and added weight and balance to the album, not to mention a different vocal.
For me, Quid Pro Quo was the best thing they'd done since Just Supposin'. I can listen to either of those two and not get bored after umpteen plays.

Still haven't heard it! Was at the rugger on Friday, stayed overnight in the depths of the capital then met sis and her hubby yesterday for what was meant to be lunch but turned into sort of lunch, tea, beer and cocktails. At 5pm yesterday it turned into marguerita time So the coffee is a little stronger this morning Anyway, back to the thread. Sis thinks the album is a belter. I downloaded it (or is it uploaded?) to my iPhone and tried to play it sitting outside the Hard Rock Café but you couldn't hear it for traffic and babbling Japanese tourists. And screaming Scottish hen parties; lest there be any accusations of racism. So it went back in my pocket to await a proper listen. Which might hopefully be today.

I can't do a song by song review after having listened to it just the once - and in random mode. My overall impression is, that it's a good album. So far no standout track, but only one that did nothing for me (Crazy Crazy) too. Which is different to the previous Quo albums from the last two decades at least. Most of the time I loved some tunes and couldn't stand others straight away. The sound is great though. In the recent FTMO the band explains they were trying for a sound similar to early Quo albums and IMO they achieved that, as that's what it reminded me of straight away - before having read the issue. Considering I couldn't stand the Talk Too Much album at first and love it now, I've got a very positive feeling towards this album.

Just gave it a first listen from start to finish. Which is impressive, by the way, with my diminishing concentration span Not a bad track on it as far as I can hear. I'll need to give it a few more plays to memorise the tracks so I can comment properly on specifics. I also need to hear it on headphones. I tend to pick up more. As hinted at in FTMO and as said by one or two on here, there is an 'older' feel to some of this while at the same time the hot shot producer has managed to get it to sound modern. No mean feat. One or two of the breaks in songs hark back to early 70's days. One in particular is right out of the Ma Kelly/Dog school of arrangements before it breaks into a terrific solo. But the overall feel, particularly with the harmonies, takes me back to maybe Never Too Late. And one track in particular is very reminiscent of Falling In Falling Out. But it is a 21st century Quo album; no question about that. By the way, a nod to craydarr I think there is a hint of a young Alan Lancaster in the vocals on Get Out Of My Head. Certainly in places, mainly the verses. Crazy Crazy would obviously not sound out of place on Unfinished Business or even We Talk Too Much. At the moment, I like it a lot on hearing it once. By the middle of week I'll be calling it a classic. I know me too well

Second impression: I'd put Backbone on a par with albums such as Heavy Traffic and In Search of the Fourth Chord, but nowhere near Quid Pro Quo.
As for the opening track, I still think it's a poor choice. As a guide, the opening tracks for previous albums were: What You're Proposin', A Mess of Blues, Blues and Rhythm, Beginning of the End, Two Way Traffic, The Party Ain't Over Yet, even Fun, Fun, Fun. Waiting for a Woman doesn't get near those.
I'm deliberately avoiding comparisons to the FF era, by the way.

I've played it twice all the way through in two days, it took me nine years to do that to QPQ.
A very solid album, no stand out tracks and,for me, only Backbone and Crazy Crazy were in average territory.
An album which stands at least shoulder to shoulder with anything they've done since 1981 (NTL).
A good 8/8.5 album.
It's a far better album than we had any right to expect at this stage in their career.

I've listened to it a second time now and while the chugga chugga got on my nerves occasionally, I've now got a first favourite too: Face The Music

Issac Ryan thanks for pointing the bonus tracks were on you tube, enjoyed them both ,Crazy Crazy is a fun song love my country music ,cheers I too like Crazy Crazy, but I think we are nearly on our own thinking that. I like Crazy Crazy too, I just don't think it should have been on this album. On We Talk Too Much, Unfinished Business, or Frame's as yet unreleased solo album- no problem at all. When I first got into Quo in the late 80s I would listen to them without any bias, history or understanding, and if I liked it I liked it. So I like Marguerita Time and I love Burning Bridges and I never questioned them being on a Quo album. But now I see Status Quo's music as a brand. So although I like a bit of light along with the shade (and there actually hasn't been much of that on this album and QPQ) I think there are certain songs that don't belong on a Quo album. I can understand it 30-40 years ago when no one had a separate solo career, but now everyone in the band has (been able to) put out solo records I think some tracks should be saved for those albums, this being one of them, and save Quo albums for the Quo brand of music. But to be fair it's the only song on this album that I think of like that, it is only on the bonus CD, and I do like it anyway, so hey ho.

About 10 listenings in on the new album,I've done some kind of current ranking.
The A list:
Cut me some slack Better take care Waiting for a woman
The B list:
Falling off the world Running out of time Liberty Lane Get out of my head I wanna run away with you Backbone
The C list:
I see you're in some trouble Backing off
Edit: I've heard the two bonus tracks on youtube, Face the music enters the A list (cracking tune) ,whilst Crazy crazy enters no list of mine whatsoever.
We'll see what happens forward, but it feels kinda right at the moment.

I wasn't too sure about Backbone at first but really like it now and I think the album version of LL is even better than the live version, so both make my A-list too. Waiting For a Woman is different in tempo and should've been put between the rather samey tunes (from a tempo POV) in the middle of the album IMO. For that reason I'd have loved to get a ballad as well.
I actually think that listening to this on vinyl makes sense. Just 5-6 songs in a row keep it fresh. All of it in one go is a bit much for me ..
