The official Quo website now has a new header which says: "Status Quo Back! (the image for 'back' is in reverse) on tour 2019" with a new pic of the band in b&w next to it. They're starting the marketing early. Taking a run at it. But it augers well for a new album, which is why this announcement seems quite significant. Next year could be as busy as this one was quiet.

Image is good but don't like the idea of Leon not being in it tho. Small gripe..
Lets hope you are right..

I never actually noticed that. Yeah, I agree. He should be there. I know it's not easy but even with Live Alive Quo they managed to squeeze Jeff Rich in. Maybe Leon has image rights and costs too much

You made me take a look - nice ! Like the font and general concept, although it's not that far from 'Quo's back' - maybe deliberately ? And yep, they will have to do something for the release of the new album and they'll have to get behind it and tour it - a la Heavy Traffic. Maybe that little black thing you can see at the bottom is supposed to be the drum riser ? If you'd not have mentioned Leon missing, I'd not have noticed .. Looks like they're really getting behind the Talk Too Much stuff and tour too. They don't usually put up that much when Rhino goes solo. Francis obviously is more Quo. But then we knew that ..

Yeah, my immediate reaction was the "Quo's Back" thing. But that is now over 30 years ago so mirroring it a little won't be remembered by most - and never actually seen probably by even more! Francis's solo album/tour/book is the next thing up (although Rhino would correctly dispute that) so I suppose it will get the headline treatment at the moment. Sort of makes sense. But putting the promise of a Quo tour up there will also be designed to help boost the sales of those things. It will show that Quo are still going and that Francis is still a part of that old behemoth I dare say the Facebook page has something similar. I imagine the number of hits the official website gets is very low but that's my source of information so I intend to carry on using it - while it's still there at least. Domains have to be paid for and they'll pull the plug on it eventually I suspect.

No band in their right mind will take down their official website at this point, I think.

I now have to convince our German finance manager that a meeting at our Dresden office is a really good idea

Our local paper has been advertising the 'Essex Rocks' gig in which Quo are headlining next September, but I won't be going But I'm looking forward to seeing John Coghlans Quo in Chelmsford next April

Yeah, the German gigs in the summer have that marketing too.
Looks eye catching
Maybe that’s what the album will be called as it’s the first rock album since 2011? ( discounting Bula Quo)

Essex Rocks I mean. But given they're being supported by Dr Feelgood at Pembroke Castle, wouldn't be a bad idea to have them at that one as well.

This ad was in the local paper 6 weeks ago. As for Dr Feelgood, they have no original members, but are still a good tribute band

As for Dr Feelgood, they have no original members, but are still a good tribute band That line up is, frankly, awful and almost everything I detested about much of 80's music. Only Nik Kershaw and maybe Nick Heyward stand out as listenable. I could not stand through all that waiting for Quo to come on. If these retro festivals are the way forward for Quo now - and they do appear to be - I'm going to be seeing less and less of the band, certainly in the summer. Fair enough. They've earned the right to do these things and make the dosh with minimum effort. And I have seen them before

Midge Ure is a great singer, guitarist (he even played in Thin Lizzy for a short while!) and songwriter. No discussion. Tony Hadley is a great singer, Spandau Ballet have thrown him out or something... I only know two songs by Go West but their singer Pete Cox actually followed Noel McCalla's footsteps for a short while, singing for Manfred Mann's Earth Band! "Temptation" by Heaven 17 must be one of the decade's greatest pop songs, and "Trouble" isn't shabby either (fun to play on guitar, I may add). China Crisis had a nice mellotron-driven hit and, if I remember correctly, even collaborated with Walter Becker from Steely Dan.The rest either don't ring any bells, or they aren't exactly my cup of tea, but from an 80s viewpoint this line-up isn't so bad, really. I do think it's at odds with Quo headlining and wonder if they would put more emphasis on their 80s hits (probably not, then again I'd love to hear Richie giving "End of the Line" a try - not that it was a hit...). I actually wish something along these lines would happen in Germany...

I actually wish something along these lines would happen in Germany... I can see exactly where you're coming from. Unfortunately, for me anyway, a good voice simply isn't enough. Midge Ure, Tony Hadley and Pete Cox can all belt out a toon, but the music they produced back then just wasn't for me. And it still isn't. I'm not belittling their undoubted talent. China Crisis I'm afraid I didn't like at all. Wishful Thinking makes me wince to this day Heaven 17? Meh. Although I appreciate that Temptation in particular is considered an 80's pop classic. Not in my house And do not get me started on Jimmy Sommerville. Or I'll skweam and skweam An 80's music discussion on here? We have 2018 Quo to blame for that

China Crisis had a couple of magnificent singles, St Saviors Square and Kind In A Catholic Style.
I like those 80's songs that weren't big hits, Winter by Love & Money, anyone?

Oh, and that was the other one. I couldn't remember it till you chucked it up to have rotten vegetables thrown at it Love & Money were OK. In a bog standard 80's Scottish sort of way. Saw them on the U2 bill in 1988. Them, Runrig and The Pogues. Talk about a gathering of the clans

They certainly weren't there when I originally started the thread. Nope they weren't .. Eyrichhof castle would be the nearest and basically the only one for us as a possibility, the rest is too far north or east (or both). I suspect though more dates are to follow as it would make no sense to leave out the south completely. Dates in the southwest are rare though .. I can really recommend the Tempodrom - the perfect venue for view and atmosphere to watch anything. We'll be there next year end Jan./start of Feb. for the snooker (although I'd not travel that far for the one night of a rock gig. ). johns Dresden is a lovely open air amphitheater type of venue out in the green:

Still no mention of Status Quo rock Essex in September I can't see it on the FB page either. The similar events in Sunderland and Leeds are on there but not this one. It's a conspiracy I tell thee

Still no mention of Status Quo rock Essex in September They'll just be dotting the 'i's and crossing the 't's on the contracts and licences probably. Or it's as @bam says; a conspiracy. A dastardly plot to keep Essex folks in the dark so that all the tickets are gobbled up by ageing women in ra-ra skirts and 50-year old blokes in frilly shirts and leather trousers
