Yep, booked (as soon as tickets became available) and going (I do hope so... still a long time): it seems I will be traveling to the UK again. When the tour doesn't come to Belgium... I go to the UK. And if he should decide to take this "I talk too much" tour to the main continent after all: I certainly will be going as well (well, if it is in Belgium or Holland ). Would not want to miss it!
Curious about how it will be..... sitting there, listening to Francis Rossi, telling us "stories", jamming on his guitar.... Yep, looking forward to that.

I doubt they'll even consider taking this formate to the continent, not just Belgium or Holland, but Germany as well, as there is a language barrier. To get something like this, his humour, his style and his cockney accent you have to be fluent in English and used to listening to it. There won't be too many around who can check all of these, so sadly I can't see it working here ..

It took me a while to get used to his style & humour (I still wonder sometimes....), but I got used to his cockney accent... I can listen to him for hours .... so the evening will be over way too soon. Luckily there are a few of those on a Saturday so I do not have to take time off from work to travel abroad and come back the next day.

Francis might be cocky, but he's no Cockney. Or is he? Think he's something similar - the locals might know better though

I think, traditionally, you have to be born within sound of the Bow Bells or something like that. Although I'm not entirely sure what that means. East London I think. Francis was born in Lewisham or some such district of London.

As a born and bred Londoner (although long departed) Mr. mortified is totally correct, a Cockney must be born within the sound of Bow Bells, the bells of St Mary-le-Bow in the Cheapside district of The City of London. Rossi was born in Forest Hill, Lewisham, South London.

We know Francis deliberately learnt to speak with that accent as a youth to fit in (like a foreign language in a way ), so with him it's maybe not a question of where exactly he had been born I guess.

I actually remember Francis's appearance on The Lottery Show. He wore that garish yellow jacket.

Yes there is, although there is an Estuary English, which is more of a lower middle-class accent, as opposed to working-class accent. As most languages, it lives and changes through the ages.

If he wanted to come across as un-macho and androgynous as possible he should've asked Bowie for advice ..

Bowie and his dressing style... Well, there are (a lot of) times/periodes I thought he looked really "cool" and handsome .... He was a "chameleon" in many ways... Ch-ch-ch-changes....

It's difficult for me to say how the tour will sell. I don't know how popular these things are. Never been to one. Never fancied going to one. But there are a few coming to town I notice. I wasn't going to go but he's now appearing only 5 minutes from my front door so I'm going to give it a shot. Mick Wall in the latest FTMO says it will be structured - it obviously has to be - but that his intention is to get Francis to open up about all manner of topics and that every night will be different because of audience Q&A. There will be an intermission, videos and Francis will have a guitar on stage. But the bottom line is, this tour is effectively a book promotion and I expect that to reflect a lot of the content. I'm also expecting very little controversy because it's not about that. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with it anyway. I imagine (although I could be completely wrong) that the questions put to him by the audience might be vetted beforehand. Frankly, it would be daft not to! Some ageing embittered fvckwit with long grey hair and a denim suit from Primark asking " why did you kill the band I loved, Francis?"

I'd assume it's selling reasonably well at least, as quite a lot of dates have been added since the first bunch has been announced. Promoters don't want to lose money and they'll have experience with this type of event, so they'll know their audience. It's just that it's a first for us, but I can actually imagine that quite a few older fans, who'd not go to gigs any more will find the formate appealing. Sensible move mortified - you know you'd have regretted it if you hadn't gone. You always do .. So what was this about the gig in Portugal .. ? - Go !

I had a quick scan over a handful of dates the other day when having a cuppa and they seemed to have sold around 100-250 seats in the venues. Which is ok..

In the meantime two more questions have surfaced for those who're going: Why on earth do you tour as the support act for Lynyrd Skynyrd ? Will there be a winter tour (and not just in the UK) ?

I'm going so I'll gladly ask the second question for you. I have no issue with them supporting Lynyrd Skynyrd so I'll leave that question to someone else..........

I notice that Shrewsbury is sold out and I know that for the Dunfermline 'show' I'm going to, only the downstairs area is open. Standard procedure for these things I was told. This sort of thing is new to me but I would have expected that those who organise them will have done their homework. Although their track record is a bit hit and miss.
