I just bought tickets for the 'show' in Preston. Not really sure what to expect but hopefully there'll be lots I've not heard before. I guarantee you at some point I'll hear the words 'Insecure little show off', at which point Rossi may hear the word 'wan........'!

Bought my tickets for Brierley Hill Civic Hall. Never been there before, I expect it is being used because Wolverhampton Civic is undergoing major refurbishment. Easy to get to and parking nearby but I don't think they have sold many tickets.

If there was somewhere reasonably close to me venue wise I'd have gone to this. Not traveling 100 odd miles to listen to an evening of chat though. 😉

I'd not order tickets that early either .. dai - I expect him to take a guitar along. He's done it for longer radio broadcasts too.

I’ve just looked on Francis Rossi’s website and there is no mention of this, it’s obviously on the Quo site but wouldn’t you have thought they would put it on there?

The nearest venue to me on this tour is 195 miles away (311 km) in Lancaster. Had Francis been touring a new album, I'd have travelled that far to see the gig. And been very happy to do so. But a scripted and pseudo Michael Parkinson event? Nah, sorry. But hopefully it goes well and those who do go enjoy it.

I get annoyed when Francis Rossi insists on hiding his mouth behind his hand. It makes him appear that he doesn't want to be there.

When you go, don't ask him about Rick, because lots of other people will do that. Ditto for FF. Ask him something different: ask him why the set list has remained so set in stone.

It probably is one of the questions I'd ask TBH. It's primarily the reason why my interest in Quo has waned of late, there's other reasons of course but the static set list has, for me, gone beyond a joke now. I don't accept the 'tweaks' here and there such as Backwater or Mystery Song, it needs ripping up and starting again. I wouldn't ask about Rick anyhow. Rick and Frame were colleagues/friends for many years, so asking, 'how was your relationship', 'do you miss him', or something else along those lines would be crass/weird IMO. I'd like to hear him talk about Rick obviously, favourite memory of him, that kind of thing but I'd never prompt a discussion. Have never agreed with fans dictating what Frame should or shouldn't say/do in terms of Rick. I'm hoping there'll be lots of talk about the FF, especially the reunions. I imagine he'll be quite candid about it all, if anything I'd simply thank him for doing it, it's something I never thought I'd see but I'm eternally grateful I did (8 times)

I'd hope people are going to show an interest in the newer line-ups, the last two decades and the future. How else should we get across that we don't merely want to hear the old stuff at gigs, but that fans appreciate the newer output too. Show some interest in what he's writing and recording now. You may even mention the mb poll which new songs we want to hear live the most (Heavy Traffic, You'll Come Round, .. ). Oh yep, a question or two about his solo album(s) and (future) solo tours wouldn't go amiss either.

" Hopefully we'll take a few questions from the audience" says the official marketing statement. We'll see how that pans out If I was Francis I wouldn't put myself up for this for anything. I guess its a new way of promoting a book. Maybe its just me, but I'd rather have an album.

I guess its a new way of promoting a book. Maybe its just me, but I'd rather have an album. It wouldn't exactly be clever to promote an album this way, would it ? Btw. dai the statement on the Quo homepage confirms that Francis is going to take his guitar along: Francis Rossi - 'I Talk Too Much' - Speaking Tour
Legendary Status Quo lead singer Francis Rossi will share the extraordinary secrets of his 50-plus years in rock'n'roll when he takes to the stage for an intimate evening at 31 theatres.
Rossi will talk about his mishaps and adventures as he opens up about the highs and lows of a life on the road with one of the biggest and most loved bands ever when he features in Francis Rossi: I Talk Too Much. The tour starts on March 27th 2019 and ends on May 20th 2019.
Tickets are available, priced £25 and £32.50 for VIPs, who get seats in the front rows, a 10x8 photograph and an exclusive VIP lanyard.
Francis Rossi And in I Talk Too Much, Francis will share some of the best rock’n’roll stories ever, accrued during an extraordinary life on the road. Expect laughter, revelations, tales involving some of the giants of music, exclusive video clips, snatches of classic tunes and a great night out. Rossi will be joined on stage by award-winning writer and broadcaster Mick Wall, who has sold more than 1 million books.
Rossi said: “This show is something new for me. I’ll be looking back at some of the unbelievable things that have happened during my career. It’ll be good to get on the road once again and to do these shows. It will be live and unscripted, so god knows what could happen! One thing's for sure though, it’ll be a white-knuckle ride for me, but fans will get a real unvarnished insight into what’s happened over the years.
"I’ll be taking a guitar along to demonstrate how some of those Quo classics came into being, and hopefully we’ll take a few questions from the audience too. It’s been quite a ride, there’s a lot to share – I just hope I don’t talk too much."
Actually I start to think these might prove to be a really enjoyable night out. Wish now I could go to a show ..

I'm still not sure its for me. Maybe if it was a bit more local. About 200 miles more local! I'll just grab the DVD Its an interesting thing to do. Possibly risky in terms of attendances but he's appearing at what seem to be quite small venues. I like to think they've done their homework. The only other artist I can ever recall doing something similar is Joe Lynn Turner, the ex-Rainbow vocalist. Musical artist that is. Sports persons and TV presenters do it all the time in the UK. How popular the Joe Lynn Turner thing was, I have no idea. Personally, I'm still waiting on at least one of the promised solo albums. I think there was maybe going to be two. But not a sign of either with the book obviously taking priority. I bet Hannah Rickard is pleased

So I've been told to get on with it I might

Sorted. Took me about 45 minutes to actually get through. They didn't do VIP tickets online because their system couldn't differentiate between types of tickets. Or something. So had to call the venue. Its a long way off and these Scottish dates now appear to be the first of the tour. So he's experimenting with the dirty, painted hordes from the north first. Brave man.

Excellent! Glad you're getting the chance to see him, Billy. I think it will be a good evening, as long as he doesn't revert to cliches.
It's a long tour - I don't see him in Leeds until May.

That is indeed a very long tour ! Let's just hope he doesn't find out money can be earned much easier this way - and he'll consider a second career as a talk show host . It'll mean too no Quo activities till the start of the summer festival circuit. I wonder where the new album is going to fit in ? Suspect the release will be scheduled for autumn/winter with a standard tour here and in the UK accompanying.

He’s coming to Greenock on the 24th March!
It’s usually me travelling to see him, not the other way about !

Just some 'product' to keep things ticking along. March to May 2019 might see Rhino doing his thing again I suppose. Everyone else will be twiddling their thumbs or doing the garden. This tour now has 36 dates which is quite substantial, although I appreciate it will be more sedate and easier on a 70-year old than tours of the past.

36 dates at smaller venues, but still - what's the capacity ? - that's a lot of tickets they seem confident to sell. I've actually clicked a random venue and was surprised how many seats were unavailable already.
If you think about it, this could turn into a real money spinner. As near as no crew involved, no trucks, no gear, just the one bus (I assume Francis will insist on that).
Agree about Rhino he'll take his band out. Andy is in his 70s now and has a (relatively) new wife, so he won't mind the time at home, Leon has his other band going (don't know it's recent name, not Chroma any more ..). Don't know about Ritchie. He did have a day job, but probably gave it up when he became a full band member ..

It was originally the other way round with that being the name of the album and the band being called Chroma. As if we weren't confused easily enough!
