In The Army Now will be in the set them? That was popular on the continent/Germany? Think it's a favourite of Francis too I'm quite sure ITAN will be in the set. I've just checked the German Top 40 of 1986 for you, smokie . ITAN remained at no. 1 for 19 consecutive weeks. It's still a firm favourite with the crowds at Quo gigs in Germany. 19 weeks? I knew it was popular but not THAT popular!! Thanks @inna

Seven songs each? Now that would be a novelty. They usually do four songs each and then get together for the grand finale. I don't think Francis will play anything the audience doesn't know as it's not solely a Quo audience. That's not what RMC is about. It's a "greatest hits" night. The way I understood it is everybody gets six songs except Francis, who convinced them to get seven...

I think it would have been no.1 in the UK as well had it not been for Nick Berry and Every Loser Wins. Or some such soapy nonsense.

Wikipedia is right. ITAN remained in the German charts for 19 consecutive weeks and was at no. 1 for four weeks. It remained in the Top 10 for 11 weeks. Apologies! According to the Quo Ticker, the legendary Live album remained in the German album charts for 62 weeks, 20 of them in the Top 10. RAOTW was in the charts for 28 weeks. Still a great run for Quo though; 4 weeks at no. 1, 11 weeks in the top 10, and over 4 months in the chart. Thanks for the info Inna.
This was it's UK chart run (which was amazing for Quo in 1986) 29. 9, 5, 4, 2, 3, 6, 17, 24, 36, 40, 57, 54, 62.
14 weeks in total, 6 weeks in the top ten. The only single to come close since then was the Anniversary Waltz I think.

OK, I admit, we've bought tickets for Mannheim. It's very late for it and the gig is as near as sold out already, so they're way back. Bought a ticket for my mum too. Really hope she'll come along and will be able to enjoy it .

Nope, Ludwigsburg. Yep, that'll be closer for you. Wasn't aware they're playing in the Stuttgart region too, as Nino mentioned he'd come to Mannheim.

For some reason the Ludwigsburg date isn't listen on the Quo page... Also, do you know what the biggest problem is for me? What t-shirt should I wear I've got two Quo shirts and two Saga shirts... thank God I didn't also get a Hooters shirt...

There's an interview with Francis from March 29: www.nordbuzz.de/kino-tv/francis-rossi-rock-meets-classic-interview-9738461.htmlA few bits and pieces here: He says he likes Italian opera, Pavarotti is his favourite. He doesn't consider himself an 'Aficionado', but knows the most famous pieces of classical music. Taking part at Rock Meets Classic is nothing but yet another commitment he hadn't really planned on doing. He mentions Night of the Proms which he considered rather boring. He prefers the concept of Rock Meets Classic because it's more about rock, but should rather be called Rock Meets Orchestra. He will do songs like Caroline, The Wanderer, ITAN and Burning Bridges. The latter should go well with the strings. He hopes people will enjoy themselves, but he won't tell them they'll have the time of their life at the show. He thinks reality can never meet people's expectations. You should never be too sure of yourself, but start each day all over again. When asked about LNOTE and Rick - It was dreadful seeing him lying there on the floor. He left the room on a stretcher, and we all thought he was dead. We all knew it had to happen some day. A couple of weeks later, Rick wasn't the man he once used to be. Rick wanted us to go on. At first, our bass player's son stood in for him. He was almost family, so I guess that was okay, but only temporary. When it became clear Rick wouldn't return to the fold, we asked Richie Malone. Rick thought Richie was the only one to be able to replace him. I guess I made life difficult for Richie at the beginning because he just wasn't Rick. Then things started to change. Richie did something to us old men. Suddenly it was fun again. I don't know if it was because I had been confronted with my own mortality or rather that you don't realise what you've got until it's gone. I missed Rick at the beginning, but I got used to it all. The Rick I once knew wrote all those beautiful songs and had a wonderful singing voice. But over recent years someone told him he had to live the rock'n'roll lifestyle. He started using words like 'kick ass'. I never really got this rock'n'roll lifestyle. It's stupid to get drunk every night and take drugs. Somehow, over the last years, Rick made this rock'n'roll lifestyle his own. That's not what I miss. But I do miss my old friend. Only recently I listened to All the Reasons, and it made me shed a tear. But death is part of life. You can't bring everything to a halt because of it. Francis went on saying that he can't just laze around and that he inevitably feels drawn to working in his studio at the back of his garden. Music means everything to him because it makes him happy. He says he was asked to make a new Quo album and has yet to decide how he wants it to sound. He's not sure it should sound like old Quo.That last sentence fills me with trepidation. It won't sound completely like 'old Quo' without Rick; that's a given. But it has to resemble them in style or there's no point in being a Quo fan for me. I love the band because of how they sound. It also contradicts what 'insider' said in another thread when he hinted that tracks have already been laid down. Much of the interview covers old ground. Things we've heard him say before. But it's nice to hear he listened to All The Reasons - whichever version. Maybe he's a Quo fan after all Ta for putting it up, @inna.

Semi-Macho-Rockband Great interview that ! Some of it standard, but most of it open and interesting. And obviously a lot was rather the other way round than many of us thought - him wanting to stop and Rick urging him to continue, then Francis making Ritchie's life hard as a consequence .. A lot of honest feelings about losing Rick too, obviously he's finally able to talk about it. The sound will be what it will be - we'll just have to wait and see - but I can understand his attitude of wanting it different sounding without Rick.

If there is to be a new album, let's wait and critique it then.
Not before.

If there is to be a new album, let's wait and critique it then. Not before. Absolutely. We do like to speculate when there's nothing to actually talk about though. To be fair, in the past, the band have occasionally suggested 'x' and we've ended up with 'y'. No matter how it turns out, I always think it's fascinating there's so much debate about a band who 'always sound the same'.

Who or what are Gotthard, I’ve never heard of him / them before. Can anyone enlighten me please. They seem to be a rather popular Swiss rock band. I don't know a single song of theirs either, I think. I've found a newspaper report about the gig in Ingolstadt (5.4.) - there's a pic of Gotthard included too. It's very positive - but I won't translate it . Generally speaking, it seems they've changed the concept in so far that all artists keep changing constantly after 2 songs and don't play their stuff en bloc - apart from Francis, who only appears at the end. link
