I don't know what to say:
Rick Parfitt 1948 - 2016 Statement from The Parfitt Family & Status Quo Manager, Simon Porter. We are truly devastated to have to announce that Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt has passed away at lunchtime today. He died in hospital in Marbella, Spain as a result of a severe infection, having been admitted to hospital on Thursday evening following complications to a shoulder injury incurred by a previous fall. This tragic news comes at a time when Rick was hugely looking forward to launching a solo career with an album and autobiography planned for 2017 following his departure from Status Quo’s touring activities on medical advice. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, fellow band members, management, crew and his dedicated legion of fans from throughout the world, gained through 50 years of monumental success with Status Quo. Rick is survived by his wife Lyndsay, their twins Tommy and Lily and Rick’s adult children Rick Jnr and Harry. No further comment will be made at this time and Rick's family, and the band, ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

For God's sake this is dreadful.
This is just so sad on so many levels.
His poor twins looking forward to Christmas and they lose their Dad on Christmas Eve.
I don't have the words.

R.I.P. dear Rick. I wish his beloved ones all strength they need. I am feeling utterly sad right now and for me Status Quo will never be Quo anymore.

I can't believe it! It's so sad R.I.P Rick sending love and prayers to all his family. So many stars have gone out this year and now one of our own it feels bloody awful. Hare Krishna!

I'm gutted, very very sad news. Especially sad for his family and especially on Christmas Eve. Can't believe after all his heart problems he died of an unrelated infection.
Thanks for the memories Rick. RIP.

What a dreadful shock. I feel so sad for Rick's family, friends and colleagues, but most especially his children. I hope that in time, they will take much comort from the fact that Rick gave so much joy to so many people. God bless you, Rick. Thank you for the memories. May you rest in peace xxx

It's times like this I hope and pray there is such a thing as life after death.
Right now I reckon Rick and Heidi are making up for lost time.
If I can take anything from this it's that thought.

Erm, just joined this board having moved over from the other side and this happens before I can post anything else. Jeez! Thanks Rick, much love. Here's how he reminded me just how much I loved his music! In his mid-60s just a few years ago. Glad he got to do this again before he went. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X86A_rC8D7w

Just had a look on Twitter and Rick is "trending", I think that's the correct phrase?
Lots of famous people saying really nice things about Rick.
Had to come out of it though as the lump in my throat was getting bigger and felt tears welling too.

4 hours after I heard the terrible news, I'm still lost for words.
The only minor minor consolation is that Quo are all over the media...I'd rather they weren't though and we still had Rick.
RIP Ricky. Thanks for the memories.
