I'm enjoying all this. Thank you, German people I've seen Quo in Germany a few times and its always been a blast. Too many highlights to list. I did like Koblenz though, I must admit. I see they're doing Bamberg. We did that one in 2009. A lovely wee place. And they have (or maybe had) a clothes shop called "Little Lady". Well, if you're going to be sad enough to follow this lot round Europe you've got to be sad enough to spot that. And take a pic No idea how to stick it up on here though. We drove on to Prague and Liberec after that. Quite an experience is driving through the Czech Republic! My wife remains traumatised :oo: I'm getting into Quo winter mood now. About time. Thank you, German people You can thank us German people by doing a UK thread, once the band hits British soil .. What I've always wanted to ask - did you wear a kilt at the Koblenz gig ? I saw a guy rushing out of the venue after the gig wearing a kilt and knowing you're Scottish, I've wondered ever since if that had been you ? I've been to the Czech Republic (Chzechoslovakia then) and Prague while it was still part of the Eastern Block - believe you me, compared to that it's harmless now .. Concerning how to add your own pics - see the 'Add Attachment' button top right when having clicked 'Reply' ? You've got to be aware of the size of your photos though. 1MB max. - so with today's standard you've got to reduce its size.

I did wear a kilt in Koblenz. It was black leather believe it or not. What was I thinking? Actually, I tend to only wear a kilt at gigs (and weddings ). It may be national dress but I suppose its a bit like lederhosen. You don't see THAT many people wearing it at home One Bamberg shop. That seems to have worked. Not bad for a technical idiot

My first trip to Germany was in October or November 1976 and I was thirteen years old....
My football team at the time went by bus to Hamburg, saw HSV vs Eintracht Frankfurt, the hometeam won 4-2. Things like that stays in mind forever. How times have changed .. HSV was a top team then, but it looks like its 1.Bundesliga days are over now. The club's a total mess and money has been wasted on second rate personnel (and not only players ..) for far too long. Frankfurt on the other hand has recovered well and might even reach the EL this season. In 1980 I made a bus trip to Norway with a youth group. We spent two weeks there hiking and sightseeing .. On our return trip we had our first break in Falkenberg. We stayed in a place close to the Sea. Rather simple accommodation (maybe a youth hostel ?), but beautiful coast.

About 1953/54 we had a group of German teenagers who came on a goodwill/friendship visit to our church in the suburbs of Manchester. Albert was staying with the family of my best friend Shirley. On the Saturday morning we decided to go into town, all dressed up in our best clothes. Albert appeared in his full lederhosen outfit. Shirley "You can't go into town dressed like that". Albert "But I always go to town dressed like this". She made him walk two paces behind us - goodwill eh? www.facebook.com/ann.p

Never again afterwards though.

Tonight - on 15.11. - Quo are playing the smallest venue so far, Messehalle 1 in Erfurt, which isn't exactly a big city either. This is how it looks when all seated (not for Quo): This is how it looks for Quo! Looks like Ive's not here so I couldn't resist!! What's happened to him? Did he leave or was he pushed?

Next stop Brosearena Bamberg tonight. Obviously Billy will remember this one including one memorable shop in Bamberg (see pic above ) Bamberg is a middle sized town and in consequence the arena isn't that big either: Basically the type of multi-purpose venue that's so common these days .. Bamberg on the other hand is a beautiful old town:

OK, first post on here from me, so let's be upbeat. Loving the geography lessons on this string and it's rekindling memories of my first Quo gigs. I was in Germany in the 80s with the Army, and my first 2 quo gigs were, appropriately, the "Army" tour (Phillipshalle Dusseldorf) and Aint Complainin (Grugahalle Essen). Both excellent. The second one was when I first heard a German crowd singing nah nah nah nah hey hey hey Status Quo. Interesting that Inna says on another string that it was back at the Koln/Cologne gig the other night. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the German leg of the tour. Nuff for now.

Thanks Inna. No, not Rheindahlen, curiously nearer to Oberhausen at Wulfen near Dorsten. Rhino, the newbie on those tours, played along with the chant, and FR gave him the "don't do that" stare. Similar to the one he gave him on Happy Wanderer during the Butlins Roadhouse Medley.

Hm, this was a smashed heel bone, and the foot is now the proud(?) owner of 7 screws. An old photo, but at this time of the year the stupid thing starts to remind me that the weather is changing. Oh, and I can't bounce to HYB anymore!

Surprised though the screws haven't been taken out again - must be fun with metal detectors . I had over a dozen in radius and ulna plus metal plates, but all was removed after a year.

Just four German gigs left, although, interestingly there's a two day gap between Magdeburg on 26th and Stuttgart on 29th .. A corporate gig on 28th maybe ? First it's Hannover though. Tonight Quo are playing the Swiss Life Hall (not Arena, the name on the homepage is wrong) there. Actually as near as no pics exist showing the thing from the outside - maybe because it looks so boring (?). Up till three years ago it has been the AWD Hall, but obviously sponsors have changed .. It's a small venue too, compared to what Quo play elsewhere with ca. 6000 max. capacity. DRDW won't be the first guys playing an accordion there though, as proven in this pic Otherwise Hannover is well worth a visit

FTMO The Official Status Quo Fan Club shared a Page.

Hi! We are the German tour promoters for Status Quo. Since the band is currently touring through Germany I just wanted to let you know that we'll be live updating (behind the scenes) at the Munich show this Wednesday. We're also doing a little raffle (for German fans only) where you can win signed posters. It'd be really cool if you could maybe tell your German supporters or followers in general about our site (Passerotto Concerts) because I think they'd enjoy the SQ content we're posting to update the Status Quo fanbase. Looking forward to hearing back from you!
We'll be doing all of the live updating on our Facebook site as well as Twitter (https://twitter.com/PasserottoC) & Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/passerottoconcerts/)! We're currently working on setting up a FB live video to go backstage as well

Seen the band a couple of times in Stuttgart; probably my favourite German city. So far anyway. I haven't visited 'em all yet. The Porsche Arena where I saw them last (2010) had another concert next door on the same night. Sting played. I think it was his philharmonic tour and I wouldn't have minded seeing that one as well! The Stingster turned up in our hotel later that evening in the bar with several of his crew. Never saw him get a round in though I also saw Quo at the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. It was attached to the hotel we were in. Literally! Very handy.

They did check us Quo fans thoroughly on the right side, whereas the posh Sting fans could pass undisturbed on the left. 107 There were a lot more of us though despite Sting playing the bigger Schleyer Halle. Can't have been sold out, whereas as soon as we left the car we were approached by people asking if we had spare tickets for Quo. Saw a few Sting shirts during the Quo gig later .. well they could probably have just walked over once the entrance controls were over and done with. Didn't saw a guy wearing a kilt that night though ..

No kilt that night. We actually stayed in the bar during the whole of the support act's set (Drop Kick Murphys I think) and it was deserted. Once everyone piled out and into the bar after them, we moved in. Got a good spot. I actually fancied some Sting merch but I think Grant the merch man would have been offended. My wife certainly would have been; she can't stand Sting Great taxi service to and from the gig by the way. No travel problems whatsoever. Not sure how far we were from the Arena. Our hotel was opposite the park which is not far off the main shopping street. But the other side of the park so we had to walk through it to get to town. There was some sort of permanent protest going on. I think it was about the building of houses or offices or something so there were loads of, eh, itinerant hippies about.
