Last year we had that great thread running about the cities and venues where Quo played, with photos and info added. Now with just two days left till the start of the tour, maybe we can do something similar again ? The tour will start on 10th Nov. in Hamburg. They'll be playing the Barclaycard Arena: As you can see - it's a huge arena that's used for various sports (handball, boxing, .. and even ice hockey) as well. Maximum capacity when all seated is 16000.

Similar in size and layout to Zurich Hallenstadion.
Ive did give me instructions about how to get a pic or a video up as an image rather than just a link. Must find 'em.

Haven't found a report about the Hamburg gig so far and tonight it's the second gig already. Quo are playing the Arena in Leipzig (just 'Arena' - no sponsor name added - so far): It's another huge multi-function venue, similar to the one in Hamburg and I really wonder how many tickets they manage to sell. There won't be any seats on the floor for Quo though

Why are they playing these huge arenas?
The promotors surely must know that the band wouldn't even fill half of those gigant arenas??

I've just come across a gig report for Hamburg on NDR - a very positive one at that. Here's the link for those, who understand German, a few pics as well: link8000 tickets sold, Per-Ola would be the explanation I guess. Other venues won't hold that many. Here's a photo from before the gig. Looks like it was only the upper tier that merely sold in smaller parts:

Another night - another Quo gig: 12th Nov. and Quo are playing their third gig in Passau - venue Dreiländerhalle. Passau actually is a three river town with Danube and Inn really big ones meeting in the center of the city. As a consequence the old town is flooded frequently. as can be seen here: It's quite some way the band have traveled in just three days: From the north to the east and now as southeast as it gets. At the moment my browser is so slow that I'm not able to post any more pics thumbs-down-clipart12

The venue in Passau was Dreiländerhalle: After a day off, it's Berlin tonight. Not the beautiful Tempodrom (5000capacity) where they played with the FF, but the much bigger Max-Schmeling-Halle with a max. capacity of nearly 12000: Seems they merely go for the big ones this time ..

I want to do a cruise along the Danube to the Black Sea - that will happen sometime in the next ten years or so I expect!

There are a lot of gig reports on the Net. The words the reporters use to describe the recent shows are words like brilliant, fantastic, incredible, unbelievable, vigorous, loud, great sound, still rocking, great atmosphere, great crowd and so on . Francis gets a lot of praise for his playing and the "anecdotes" he tells on stage. Rick is being missed, but everyone thinks Richie does a fantastic job. No Inna, I havent seen any as stated, maybe I have been banned/removed form CQ groups lol

Indeed - it's merely from where the Inn joins the Danube that the river is big enough for larger cruise ships. Passau is a beautiful town as is Regensburg, just a little further up the river. And the close by Bavarian Forest with its crystal road is well worth a visit too. The glass villages in Arnbruck, Joska .. are simply stunningly beautiful not only to take in the sights, but to buy all these wonderful things made of glass as well link to crystal road . Just one example: We've only done the day cruise from Passau to Linz so far, but can only recommend it. The river valley is lovely and so are the towns.

Tonight - on 15.11. - Quo are playing the smallest venue so far, Messehalle 1 in Erfurt, which isn't exactly a big city either. This is how it looks when all seated (not for Quo): Halle 1 is part of the Messe area, which consists of two big halls and a variety of smaller buildings like a congress center. Part of the space had been used to house newly arrived refugees last year

The second part is interesting after they have run through their career. No probs with the link . and thanks for it Quite enjoyable indeed and would've been even more so, were it not for the simultaneous translating getting in the way of understanding what really is said. I mean, I admire these interpreters who are able to listen and translate at the same time - no idea how they do that ? - But it blocks out the original quite efficiently. Probably easier when you don't understand German, so the translation gets in the way less .. The scenes on the bus were rather funny .. so Leon looks younger than Richie ?

Tonight's gig is about as far up in the northeast as is possible, apart from the Frisian Islands that is, close to the North Sea. Quo are playing the Nordseehalle in Emden, one of their regular stops in Germany and well renowned for its great atmosphere. Proof they've been there before :

I'm enjoying all this. Thank you, German people I've seen Quo in Germany a few times and its always been a blast. Too many highlights to list. I did like Koblenz though, I must admit. I see they're doing Bamberg. We did that one in 2009. A lovely wee place. And they have (or maybe had) a clothes shop called "Little Lady". Well, if you're going to be sad enough to follow this lot round Europe you've got to be sad enough to spot that. And take a pic No idea how to stick it up on here though. We drove on to Prague and Liberec after that. Quite an experience is driving through the Czech Republic! My wife remains traumatised :oo: I'm getting into Quo winter mood now. About time. Thank you, German people

As always, Germany looks fantastic and just reminds me that I've never been.
Going to put that right in 2017.

My first trip to Germany was in October or November 1976 and I was thirteen years old....
My football team at the time went by bus to Hamburg, saw HSV vs Eintracht Frankfurt, the hometeam won 4-2. Things like that stays in mind forever.
