I like this, I’m amazed how Ricky Warwick sounds like Lynott. I’ve seen these live a few years ago and they were great. I see Scott’s in the video, hasn’t he left the band now ? Scott called time on his participation in BSR, probably at the end of 2021 or start of 2022. Says he wants to concentrate on getting Thin Lizzy back out on the road. At 72 years of age, I thought he'd want to retire. Yeh I would have thought you were right about Scott, fair play to him though I’d gladly pay to see Lizzy again. If BSR played close by then I’d go to see them again.

Brian May and Elio Pace - Gimme Some Lovin'
I only heard this for the first time today and to me, Elio Pace sounded a lot like the late great Rick. Brian on lead, Rick on rhythm and vox would have been awesome!

Joe Bonamassa - Lazy Poker Blues.
This is the same song that was covered by Quo on the Ma Kelly's album.

I missed them when they supported Quo. I miss everyone that supports Quo, so it's nothing personal I never liked the original, I must admit, and much prefer this. Although I doubt I'd physically play it through choice. I guess it's probably a mood thing. Mind you, most music is. Mrs Mortified has been playing this endlessly and I've been wandering around whistling it for days. About 52 years old it is now. Scary Thankfully, I like it!

Not heard that before, but I do quite like it. For some me reason it reminds me of Have You Ever Seen The Rain by Creedence. There’s one or two nice songs by the kittens, their version of Poison by Alice Cooper is quite good too.

Deviating slightly from the Rolling Stones...
Mick Jagger - Gotta Get a Grip
Mick didn't really score very well with his solo efforts during the 80s, but persevered with a single every few years with different songwriting partners - Dave Stewart and Dave Grohl most notably. This one from 2017 was written with Matt Clifford and certainly works for me.

Much like One Step At A Time was more popular than King Of The Doghouse.

Good that. But probably pertinent that it sounds like the Stones. Much like One Step At A Time was more popular than King Of The Doghouse. The voice is unmistakably Mick Jagger and comaprison to the Rolling Stones is inevitable, but I don't hear much of the Stones in that track. Nor could I imagine Keith Richards going along with it. Keith's first solo album Talk is Cheap was described at the time of release (1988) as more like the Rolling Stones than the Rolling Stones, but Mick likes to do something different from the Stones. That said, there was Easy Sleazy....

Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds
Mick got what he was aiming for with this - an album that sounds like the Stones and yet fresh and up to date. AND IT ROCKS!

Not bad at all. I liked its simplicity.

I've just grabbed their new album, Cold War Classics Vol 2. Typically there isn't a volume 1 I think I have everything they've ever recorded, including all the online exclusive remix albums. But I've never seen them live! This old classic is one I'm playing quite a lot just now. Love it

They are a great live band, so if you like them you should make a point of getting to see them the once before they pack it in. It’s nice at the mo as Devlin Love is back singing with the band and she has an amazing voice, and a real presence on stage as well. They did Johnny Cash on Thursday, great track.

BB was just pure class. Especially in that era. Listen to how he builds his solo on that song. You kinda know where he's gonna go next, but it's still exciting. And those lyrics are still hilarious - "tell that slick insurance man that he'd better write some insurance on himself!"

B.B. King - Outside Help (Kansas City, 1972) This is great, I always loved BB and even managed to see him early 2000s and he had a massive band with him, strangely though some of his music came across as more jazzy than blues. I always remember from the U2 Rattle and Humble film when he was talking to Bono about the fact that he was terrible with chords and could they cover them when they were gonna play when love comes to town.😆

He might have been selling himself a bit short there (he was famously humble), or maybe he just didn't practice chord playing much since getting successful. But listen to the beginning of "Boogie Rock" from the mid-50s: At that time, his style was very much indebted to T-Bone Walker, who had similarly approached the blues from the jazz side, playing with jazz musicians and so on. BB was also on record saying that he would've liked to be a jazz guitarist but wasn't good enough, so he stuck to the blues.

Nils Lofgren - Keith Don't Go
Nils Lofgren was inspired to write “Keith Don’t Go” after witnessing the struggles Keith Richards faced with addiction. As a fellow musician and friend, Lofgren wanted to capture the pain and desperation he felt for Richards through this song. The name Keith in the song is a metaphorical reference to Keith Richards, and the song draws inspiration from his struggles rather than a specific individual named Keith.
