Bought the new Def Leppard album and am really glad I did. I’ve only listened to it the once but I can already say that there’s some instant massive catchy choruses in there on Tracks like Kick, U Rok Mi and Gimme A Kiss That Rocks, along with a few alternative and slightly different tracks. It’s up on streaming sites so check it out, if you like Def Leppard then you’ll like it. youtu.be/ty8Kn5rzaA0

Great stuff all round Totally agree great performance all round , love it .👍 I recently bought the La Futura album which I think was recorded with Rick Rubin and it’s fantastic, amazing raw sound on it. Great album

Great album There's a track on that which, to me, is almost like ZZ Top do AC/DC - I Don't Wanna Lose, Lose You. I love it

And part of today's delights is Iowa by Slipknot That borders on self-harm I got into because my ex made me watch Disasterpieces with my stepson one Christmas long ago. Wasn't liking it much then heard Left Behind and it was that song that did it for me. I've never been the same since 😅😅

She might have moved on. She certainly likes Corey Taylor. She's always banging on about him. Actually, she's off to see Rammstein tonight so she does have some taste

It's the vocals really. I'm one of those old codgers who just never 'got' that technique; that growl. Can't be good for your throat Things is, Corey Taylor can actually sing so it is deliberate. Not sure where it all started though. Said step-daughter send us two videos of Rammstein last night. I think they were at the Cardiff City Stadium. All fireworks and loud guitars. Looked fun

Rammstein are another band I know nothing about, I’ve seen a few live clips and know they put on a spectacular show and I’ve also heard a few tracks on planet rock which seem ok, but other than that very little.

With us, certainly here in the UK, it's all about the music with Rammstein because they sing in German. But it's sort of academic somehow. They attract both the metal and the Gothic crowd I think. They tend to be pigeon-holed as 'industrial' but metal works just as well. I suppose there's a sort of contradiction in saying that I don't like Slipknot because of the vocals but I do like Rammstein and ignore the singing. Don't ask me to explain that. I'm obviously contrary

And I missed off Listen Without Prejudice by George Michael on yesterday's list You are further absolved. That's a terrific album. Easily his best. Actually, much like Madonna for me. In terms of my own tastes, they only made one great album each. George with Listen Without Prejudice and Madonna with Ray Of Light. Worldwide sales, of course, suggest otherwise. But when did they ever count?

Her vocals get on my nerves after a while.

I went through a 'dance/trance' phase in the 90's and early noughties so I was impressed with Ray Of Light, probably because it was produced by William Orbit. Someone I paid a lot of attention to back then. The leap from dance or electronic to industrial - Prodigy or Depeche Mode for example - also isn't always a big one, so a lot if it made it's way into my collection. Doesn't always stand the test of time though, like most fashion. George Michael's album is, however, timeless.

Didn't get to playing many albums today so it's a short list.
Both By Thin Lizzy
Black Rose - if I'm right this is regarded really highly in Lizzydom. I must admit when I bought it a few years ago I thought it was excellent. However playing it today, apart from the singles, it is actually quite dull an pretty bland. Like my Mike Oldfield Platinum collection it will be departing from my CD shelves.
On the other hand -
Chinatown isn't regarded as a Lizzy gem, but I've always loved the album and listening to it straight after Black Rose I think Chinatown wipes the floor with the so called Lizzy classic. Much better songs and for me all round it is a consistently great listen.

But I never took to Black Rose. I always thought their best was Bad Reputation but I guess it's all down to taste. I also liked Chinatown. Snowy White was as close to Brian Robertson as they ever got again.
