Why is he saying Union Chapel holds less than 700 people? Everyone knows it has a 900 capacity Could be any number of reasons - might depend on the setting, the possibility it's being filmed (Remember when Francis' at St. Lukes was filmed they sold far less tickets than would've been a capacity crowd to give the film crew enough space), the fact that it's mainly considered a gig for fan club, friends and families, ..

I am pretty certain they wont be filming that. And as for being for fan club, friends and families, that is actually a false statement. Tickets are freely available to anyone as we speak.

On the FTMO flyer received two weeks ago it said it was an exclusive fan-club presale for a one-off intimate show. After that date, tickets became available to everyone. It also said the Chapel had a capacity of 900 - don't know where the 700 comes from. I had no idea it was merely a 45-minute set. I think that's rather short and doesn't justify all the fuss made about it. I understand the support is Brendan Keane...? Why do they need a support act if they only play for three quarters of an hour and if it's considered a warm-up show? :ignore: Never mind. It should be an interesting night, and I hope everything will go according to plan. Will Freddie step in for Rick again? Here is the answer to your question regarding support act. It will be an interesting night for me, but it wont be at any chapel I'm afraid rockin-on.freeforums.net/thread/39/union-chapel

Well, I found the following information on the Union Chapel website: Brendan Keane on at 8 pm, Quo on at 9 pm, curfew 10.30 pm. I didn't find any information about the show being a mere 45-minute set or Rick not being part of it. So this might come as a surprise to any unsuspecting fan. We all know that Rick won't be there, of course, because it says so on the fan club flyer. But nowhere does it say that the warm-up will be exactly that - a warm-up. Imagine travelling on the train for three hours to be there for the one-off "intimate" gig and finding yourself outside on the pavement again three quarters of an hour later... On the songkick page it says capacity 800, and Hurry! Selling fast. And Brendan Keane - most fans of the headliner don't know the artist. Be one of the first. That made me laugh. Anyway, I hope everything will work out fine for the band and the orchestra as well as the fans attending the show. I won't spend that night at the Chapel or any other chapel either. But I would if it was just a trip down the road. I did consider buying a ticket but when I looked at the logistics of travel, hotel etc. it just seemed too much hassle. If they had scheduled it for an afternoon I could have been there and back in a day.

I bet some poor sods don't even notice Just wait until Deryquo gets hold of that bit of news

What gets me is if it was a fan club thing only, there wasnt enough fan club members who were interested enough to buy tickets to sell out what is a tiny venue

The announcement of the gig was very short term. Many people will have been on holiday (like me) when the presale was on. And a considerable number of fan club members lives on the continent, for whom it definitely wasn't enough time to book flights, hotel .. I'd maybe have considered going, had I known it 2-3months in advance at least. On the other hand - I, and I guess many other non-UK fans hope the band will take the album over on a regular acoustic tour to us next spring, so won't see the need to fly over. I'd not take filming completely out of the equation. In fact I believe it would be ideal: This type of audience in an intimate setting will provide a great atmosphere. It worked well at the Roundhouse (though on a larger scale, but there'll have to be differences in both videos) and for Francis at St. Lukes. As far as I know 200 tickets never went on sale, but were held back for the band's families and friends from the start. That would explain the difference in numbers mentioned: 700 - 900.

3 of us are travelling down to the Big Smoke to see the Union Chapel gig. We enjoyed the Roundhouse gig so much. Hyde Park I'll give a miss. One day in London is quite sufficient, thank you.

mortified : Fingers crossed they're going to play a longer set than just the afore-mentioned 45 minutes. On the other hand you'd have plenty of time to go sightseeing. I'd prefer a (longer) gig at Union Chapel to the one at Hyde Park, too. Enjoy and let us know how it went. 45 minutes is painfully short and it will be similar to the Rock 'Til You Drop marathon where the set was about 50 minutes. I appreciate that this is a dress rehearsal to an extent for the much more public Hyde Park gig but that suits me fine. I obviously don't know but I've worked out that ALL of the tracks available over all formats comes to around 1¼ hours so they are presumably only going to play those from the basic CD version. Sightseeing? That will probably being and end at the Hard Rock Café.

Looking forward to hearing about it. It could well be that For You is going to start the encore - a slow song like RTYD last time. Will be interesting to see which song they choose to finish with .. Has anybody driven past Shepperton over the last days .. ?

Just wondering who's Rick's stand in (or should that be sit). Freddie is already part of the acoustic band, so is Ricky Malone involved.
