Wonderful pic. Thanx Kathrin. It seems you missed your chance to become an aristocrat, by not going after Mr. von and zu Schwerin. I'll try to come up with some info on the other two gigs of the three-in-a-row later.

As for the all green guitar that Francis is playing, if it's a model made by Status then I know who'll get the blame for that. Meaning you know someone at Status Guitars?

If only More the fact that Status is the brand that Rhino plays and endorses. I can imagine there'll be some people somewhere saying that here's Rhino having a bad influence on the band leading them away from playing Telecasters.

Guess what -storm would break loose, if Francis' new Status guitar would bear the rhino-symbol to be seen on Mr. Edwards' Status bass.

Nice and heavy both - actually I can't help feeling they all want to prove that this line-up is heavier than the other one. Rick's voice doesn't sound too good, but that's probably down to the dodgy recording. That green guitar does look strange, can't judge the sound from the clip though ..

Kathrin already showed you the nice Castle of Schwerin - nowadays the parliament of the federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern resides there. Them politicians... The town Schwerin with its only 90,000 or so inhabitants is relatively small for a federal state capital. It's situtated on a lake not so far from the coast of the Baltic Sea. The venue for the gig on November 21st, the Sport- and Kongresshalle (no need to translate that, I guess ) can hold up to 8,000 spectators, but based on the reports from Kiel, Quo will hardly use all the available space.

Yet another capital waits for Quo on November, 22nd: Erfurt is the capital of the federal state Thüringen (Thuringia) Compared to all the other venues so far, there uis relatively little water around, although a snall river (Gera) runs through the town of approximately 200,000 inhabitants. If you would put the unevenly shaped Germany into a square, Erfurt would be about in the middle of that square. I've never been there myself, so I don't know much about Erfurt. Here is a nice picture of the Cathedral Hill: The venue of the gig is called Thüringenhalle and it doesn't really look very modern. I couldn't find any numbers on its audience capacity.

After a day off, the "Tour of the Capitals" will reach its last capital: Saarbrücken is the capital of the rather smal federal state of Saarland on the French border. Of the about 1 million people of Saarland 180,000 or so live in Saarbrücken. Saarland has an intersiting history. After WW I it was governed by the League of Nations before a referendum in 1935 led to re-intgration into Germany. After WW II it was not only part of the French zone, but unlike other parts of the occupied Germany it became kind of a protectorate and was integrated into the French economy. In a referendum of 1955 the people of Saarland decided that they wanted to belong to (West-)Germany and in 1957 they became a part of the Federal Republic of Germany. Another two yeras later, the D-Mark was officially introduced. The Casrtle of Saarbrücken combines baroque and modern architecture: The venue of the gig is called Saarlandhalle and holds up to 5,800 spectators. It's a typical multipurpose hall for sports, cultural and congress events:

Beautiful photo, Kathrin. I've never been to Schwerin in my life. I just have to go some day and see the Lakes. Some friends have been and told me that it was absolutely stunning up there. Aren't Quo playing Magdeburg tonight? Anyway, here's the last bit of Railroad and then Big Fatty from Dresden. What do you make of Francis' guitar playing and Leon's drumming...? Looks like they played quite an extensive bit of Railroad in the Medley - or was it even part of the Medley at all? It seems as if they played it in full. It does seem as if Rick was a bit distracted. A few times he looked over his shoulder twords where I guess his guitar technician was standing. Francis' all-green guitar doesn't look very new. It seems to be a bit worn not so unlike his famous tele.

Anyone heard anything about Lou Gramm's performance? Going by the German board - which isn't much, admittedly - he was good enough and well received. That venue in Schwerin very much resembles the Porsche arena in Stuttgart, where Quo usually play, in outlay as well as in size - just less modern. I've been to Thüringen a few times, but not in Erfurt, so can't add anything about it. Wernigerode is worth a trip though You may want to ask Tamara and Rosie about Saarbrücken and 'sightseeing' in the middle of the night :lolflg:.

On his Facebook Page Leon is concerned about the echoing sound of the Magdeburg venue showing a brief video from Lou Gramm's drummer's soundcheck.

It's great reading and seeing pictures of German towns, they look so interesting. Here in the UK we don't see enough of the geography and history of other European countries. Organised trips all seem to go to the same destinations, it would be nice to find a couple going to less well known and touristy places. Keep up the good work folks!

Here's the first half of the Proposin' Medley from Schwerin.
Good news: audience and band seemed to have been in good shape. Nice reaction to Rhino and Andy doing some guitar posing. And Francis' voice sounds like he's into it.
Bad news for any MOTT fans: although the clip cuts Little Lady short, it being part of the Medley probably reduces the chance of a proper Most of the Time being played after that.

And here's more proof of the audience having fun (and frankly I don't care if they look like hardcore or joe public. Anyone enjoying a Quo gig that much is just good to see )

Organised trips all seem to go to the same destinations, it would be nice to find a couple going to less well known and touristy places. Keep up the good work folks! There are still a lot of stereotypes about Germany and German cities about in American films and TV series and those seem to influence other cultures as well. In consequence 1000s of tourists get dropped on Heidelberg by the bus load, while the close by and far more beautiful Ladenburg, Hirschhorn, .. or even Schwetzingen get far less visitors. There are merely 3-4 towns/places on the Japanese/Chinese/.. list of 'get to know Europe in a week'. It's probably not quite as extreme with visitors from the UK but still similar to a degree. The thing with Germany is, that as near as all bigger cities have been (completely) destroyed during WW II, which leads to all of them having modern city centers. If you want to see older towns you've got to visit the middle sized towns (ones that aren't tourist hot spots). I know you don't drive, Ann. But maybe you've got a friend or two who do - or your daughter ? We only ever travel individually and we've been to nearly all European countries by car and most of them numerous times. You do get along with English, the only region that poses problems in that respect is the southeast starting from Croatia.

Today's a day off for Quo, then comes Saarbrücken, and after another day off they drive down to their first stop on this German Tour that is not a federal state capital. Augsburg is the only tour stop in Bavaria. After Munich and Nuremburg, Augsburg with its 275,000 inhabitants is Bavaria's third biggest city. With a large number of artificial canals running through the old town, Augsburg has more bridges (500 in total) than Venice. It is one of the oldest towns in Germany dating back to the Roman settlement of Augusta Vindelicorum in 15 BC. Augsburg does not only boast a number of impressive representative buildings like the city hall: but also has the world's oldest still inhabited social housing estates: the "Fuggerei" built in 1523. To most Germans of my age, Augsburg will always be linked to the childhood memory of the famous puppet theatre called "Augsburger Puppenkiste" which appeared nation-wide on children television programmes. The venue of the gig on November 26th is far less sentimental or romantic. The Schwabenhalle is a modern multipurpose hall with a capacity of 8,500 spectators.

This may be completely weird to most of you, but I guess all of our German board members will have a smile on their face watching the video Kathrin has just put on. Edit: just noticed that this message is at the top of page 3 of this thread. The video I am talking about is at the very bottom of page 2
