I’ve not seen this before and it backs up what Fran has previously said. Interesting! youtu.be/epufjwn-5xw

Rick's thinking was similar to mine and probably a few others in that, once it had been done (or rather twice), the shine was coming off it in terms of expectation and even ticket sales, especially abroad.
Rick and Francis's agenda would have been entirely different to Alan's and Spud's for obvious financial reasons, but you can tell Rick is passionate about some of the songs they played. Songs, like he said, he'd never play again. There's a real sadness in that. For everyone, me included.
They did try with both Blue Eyed Lady and O Baby, but it fell flat with the annual winter crowds, which simply proved that they had achieved their long term goal of appealing to a much broader audience who, frankly, preferred familiarity to experimentation.
Like many acts of Quo's vintage, the compilation had become king.
Great news for those running the 'biz'. Less so, however, for many of us.

Yeh I agree, it just shows how they both change their mind like the wind.
I only posted it a some people crucify Fran for some of the things he says, then we have Rick confirming the same thoughts.

Agree, like today JC has been performing Jazz versions of Quo songs and gets praise. If Francis tried it OMG the backlash would be immense.

Bob Young never really took any stick for doing a country album of Quo songs. And neither he should. As far as I can tell over the years, only Francis and Rhino have ever been subject to any serious verbal abuse. Everyone else is an angel. Even Rick

Even Rick Rhino's problem is simple: he's in the band and not Alan.
