Backbone is now a distant memory, and with a tour scheduled for the spring I wonder if there are plans for another recording? A strong single would get airplay and help promote the tour, and would also show that they're not settling for the easy life.

As Fran has stated he has no desire to record a new album I guess so, although as we know he does go back on his word quite often. Time will tell ! If they never record again I think they’ve earned the right to be a touring band…… as long as they change the set list a bit. 🙂 Let’s hope for a few songs from backbone in the set at least.

It's beginning to look like it. Francis calls the shots (whether any of us like it or not) so it all depends on him. Rhino has a new album coming out next year by all accounts so he is still coming up with material but most of it probably not for a Quo release, good as it always is. I guess Francis is as well but probably not anything I'd want to listen to. But that's a different issue. Funny how things change. After 1984, Quo were only going to be a recording band. Now? The set list change, I fear, is not going to happen. Not if Quo are only going to be a touring band. That would effectively make them pretty much a legacy act and the hits would be the order of the day. I'd love a new Quo album. Backbone was half decent. But the costs involved in making it for the meagre rewards for a band like Quo these days maybe make it uneconomic. Your average Quo fan is not a streaming music fan, which is where the money is. He or she isn't even from the download generation, although we're catching up It would be a pity though

At home I do tend to stream on Amazon music, so in effect the artists get a double whammy from me.

I was thinking about Quo fans in general. Even a few years ago, there was the argument for and against downloads when compared to CD's. The market changed very quickly; too quickly probably for your average (and ageing) rock fan. Streaming takes it to another level again. I personally don't stream music. Never have. I do stream TV though; Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. so I've nothing against the concept. Maybe if I was younger and listened to more music, I might. But I do like to 'own' my music. A product of the vinyl age, me So collecting and owning is part of the process. Downloads allow me that luxury.

I've adapted rather well to streaming. I like to check out records I haven't heard yet. I also have to be careful. When I went to Berlin, I barely made it back because I bought way too many CDs!! But when I want to support an artist - especially those with not much of a big label behind them - I'll totally get the CD, like I did with the new Carl Verheyen record Sundial (which is awesome, by the way).

He might well be but I have no idea He could go down the Queen route and call it Sheer Rhino Attack

I'd be disappointed if there wasn't another album and even though Francis sounds like he is not sure about it, I'm not entirely sure any of us expected Backbone so in the words of a certain song Never Say Never.

Wrong..it's called Charge! Yeah, Mrs Mortified showed me that last night on Facebook. Or somewhere. Nice cover A live album apparently Supposed to going to see him in January (it's been cancelled twice) but I'm not so sure now. The rules are becoming quite strict up here in Scotland. We shall see.

I really hope it goes ahead - last time the Railway cancelled a gig they kept the booking fee and I only got it back because I complained about it.

Mmmm sounds about right re the booking fee we’ve had that before. If it goes ahead, we’ll have to say hi on the night.

And will ultimately be forgotten. In a live sense I mean. That's a crime
