The most startling thing you wrote was " I was in HMV this morning...." You have an HMV?? Edinburgh used to have two until a few years ago. We now have none. I thought they were all gone. They and Virgin Records used to keep me amused for hours Only music shop we have now is Fopp. Anyway, to the question in hand; I've never really been a Maiden fan but I did put up the single ( Stratego) on the other message board because I thought it sounded half decent. Akin to vintage Judas Priest was my first impression. But I just can't take to Bruce's vocals. Personal taste I guess. I've seen mixed comments about the album from 'classic' to 'overblown'. But I reckon if you like the band, you're not really taking much of a risk by buying it. The packaging looks nice for the deluxe edition though

We don’t have a HMV in Southampton, but I am currently in Bournemouth and they have a rather large one there, but it wasn’t particularly busy I have to say.
Back to the album, I heard a cpl of tracks in planet rock and they sounded quite good. I do like a bit of Maiden but haven’t owned an album for years, apart from a hits album. It does have very good reviews tho. I may still get it.

Or rather I have done - I rarely go into town these days, despite working at the top of the town every day. I've got so used to using Amazon for all my needs other than the weekly Sainsbury shop, I've not really been shopping recently. I used to spend a lot of time (and often money) browsing around shops then just buying something that caught my eye - now I have a purpose when I go shopping so don't buy as much as I used to. I've saved between £200 and £500 per month whilst working from home, and still making savings now I'm back in the office.

Ace album, i love it. From someone who doesn't regard himself as an Iron Maiden fan.

Thanks for the heads up 👍 maiden are one of those those bands who i don't dislike but i just never 'got'. I've liked the last two albums and long time fans haven't. I guess there's something in that.
