I was a big Prince fan for a long time. Even managed to catch him live a couple of times. He was a strange individual but, in my eyes, unquestionably a genius. And the most prolific composer and musician you'll ever come across. Funk, rap, rock, blues, soul, ballads; he did the lot. Brilliantly. This clip is superb. Rumour had it that he wasn't included in the top 100 guitarists in some Hard Rock poll so he decided to demonstrate what he could do. He most certainly did that His performance at the Freddie Mercury concert was also memorable. Two other clips I'd heartily recommend are a performance of Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love and a sublime acoustic version of Cream. But there is so much outstanding stuff out there.

What was the Freddie Mercury thing?
Will check the others out, thanks.
I seem to remember his Super Bowl performance was great too.
Lucky you for seeing him, I wish I had.

He played the Freddie Mercury tribute concert back in the 90's. At least I think that's what I'm thinking of The one where Axl Rose from Guns' n' Roses sang the vocals on Bohemian Rhapsody dressed in an outrageous kilt Can't remember the exact year. I saw him at Celtic Park in 1992 (spit ) but the concert at Glasgow SECC in 1995 was much better; much more intimate. Although by the time of the second one, he was going through his 'symbol' phase and refusing to play his back catalogue

It was maybe another tribute thing then and I'm getting mixed up. Which happens with increasing regularity these days I'll see if I can track down the one I mean. Assuming I haven't imagined it!
