Wednesday i lay my mum to rest , but she aint going out without her favourite band being played. She will go into the crem to Wild side of live and through the curtain to Rocking all over the world . I myself have got What ever you want down to be played , has anyone else got the Quo playing on their last day. A bit of a unusual thread but was just wondering.

The older I get, the more I think of miserable things like this I was going choose A Year. Not a dry eye etc. But then I thought, "nah, do The Great Escape". You just never know (sorry about your mum by the way )

Sorry about you mum. I don't like to think about it to be honest. At my brothers, he had "All The Reasons." along side a slide show of his favourite family photos.

Sorry to hear about your mum.
I want to have a Quo song see me out, but I’m not sure which one would seem appropriate.
Will get back to you.

My mum past in 2016
Through the barricades - Spandau Ballet As the coffin came in
Burning Bridges as she was laid to rest
Friend of mine said "Dont cry that its over......smile that it happened"

Love that phrase, it’s a nice way of looking at it.

I’m actually thinking about For You as I do love the song.
I certainly want a Quo song in my funeral, but it has to be the right song for the final one . 🙂

Just catching up a bit. I'll be going in to the strains of Tongue Tied - seems to sum me up quite nicely and I was so glad Francis sang it on his solo tour. Then, as the curtains close it will be Down The Dustpipe!

Fair point - I suppose I was thinking of the end product rather than the process, ha. DTD was the first Quo single I bought so it seems appropriate.

Hey there! Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I stumbled upon it while searching for similar information. I love the idea of playing your favorite band at the funeral. My condolences on the loss of your mother, and I hope the music brings you some comfort. My friend's mom also recently passed away, and they're considering getting Headstones with butterflies, which I think is a lovely idea. It's a nice way to personalize the memorial and honor their loved one's unique interests. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on music for a funeral. It's definitely an interesting topic and something to think about when planning our own end-of-life arrangements.

Even if just to pi$$ everyone else off So much music out there across the decades. Everyone would expect me to choose Quo. Which is why I probably won't Besides, I have every intention of living forever and becoming a test case for scientific research

Good evening chaps and chapettes! I haven't had much to contribute lately, plus I've been a tad busy.
For funeral songs, I'd find playing a song from my favourite band very corny.
I'd prefer to have something a bit more romantic and emotional (gooey!), such as Springsteen's If I Should Fall Behind or Fleetwood Mac's Songbird.

Totally get the need for a personal touch. While I don't have the Quo on my list, I can totally vibe with your choices for something more emotional. Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac have that timeless, soul-stirring quality. Sending lots of strength and good vibes your way during this challenging time. And just in case it's of interest, here's an eco-friendly option to consider: greenfarewells.com/aquamation/ — it's a unique and thoughtful approach. Take care, and may your mom's favorite tunes bring a fitting tribute to her celebration of life.

I'm sorry to hear about your mum. It sounds like you're planning a truly special farewell for her with the music she loved. When my uncle passed away, we wanted to honor his passion for jazz but didn't have much to spend. We found a service that offered low-cost funerals and arranged for a small gathering where we played his favorite jazz tunes in the background. It was a simple gesture that captured his spirit perfectly.

My partners Dad had Rockin all over the world at his funeral. It somehow felt weird, such a joyous song at a funeral, but it worked.
