Maybe not so coincidentally, Fish is, I think, a strong supporter of Scottish independence... I believe so. The polls are indicating that it's about 53/47 in favour of independence at the moment but it's been a close run thing for a couple of decades now. I've never been convinced that many of those who wish to remain part of the UK are believers in the United Kingdom as such. I just think fear plays it's part; and rightly so. It would be a huge gamble. I totally support the idea of an independent Scotland but, personally, I don't think just passing 50% in a referendum is enough for such a momentous change. There has to be a higher benchmark. Say, 75%. I thought the same about Brexit. These constitutional decisions are so massive and have such an impact on people's lives that the vast majority have to subscribe to them. Or you end up splitting whatever nation is left. Which is precisely what Brexit has done. It will be interesting to see how recent events between Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmon effect the momentum for another referendum. Personally I would prefer us all to remain together but then that’s probably down to me being English and it’s not fair for me to force my own feelings on other parts of the country 🙂

It has to. It all depends on what and who people are inclined to believe. The opposition parties are gunning for Nicola because anything they can do to either force her to resign or to place doubts on her integrity will, they hope, keep independence talk at bay for a while. She's extremely popular up here so their agenda is to knock as many holes in that as they can. It's the only hope they have of making any inroads into a possible landslide victory at the forthcoming election. They might just succeed. I have my own personal views on these committee hearings, particularly on how they've been conducted and also on Alex Salmond. But we'll see how it pans out.

I’m not surprised she is so popular as she talks a lot of sense at times and her dealings with the Pandemic has run rings around good ol’ Boris at times. 🙂

^^ I think I'm going to split the independence talk into a different thread. It's interesting but only tangentially related to Fish. Back to the old man, I finally listened to Weltschmerz for the 2020 eclipsed album poll and I can understand why they chose it to be the BEST album of 2020. It is really very good. Not sure I would've put it at #1 but kudos for the album, Mr. Dick!

I think we r done with the independence talk any-who 🙂 Again getting back to fish, I am revisiting it at the moment as I’m decorating and it is a great album, probably to my mind definitely one of his best. I suggested it to a mate of mine a couple of days ago, he doesn’t know Fish and isn’t even a rock fan. He looked it up on Spotify and txtd me last night to say he loved the album. It has got great crossover appeal, someone on here said he should open it up to a general release but he was happy to keep it through his own route. On his fof broadcasts he talked about not wanting to put his catalogue on streaming sights, but someone persuaded him to do it and I have now read somewhere he has had something like 10 million streams which is great. I wonder if any of the streams develop into physical sales for him, which was the hope.

I still think he could only benefit from a good distribution deal. Of course right now it matters less since stores are closed but people are creatures of habit. If you have a standard retailer, you don't really want to create a login or whatever for every new artist...

Since it's the ol' Fish's birthday, I'm now listening to his debut solo album Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors. Really good stuff.

I’ll re buy it when he gets the remaster out. Have been listening to a lot of Fish lately as I’ve been buying some of his remasters. He has some cracking stuff on the remasters.

Anyone going to see Fish on his uk tour next month.
I’m probably going to see him in Southampton.
Have been holding off for obvious reasons but I’m due to get my booster 2 weeks before so that’s cemented it now, I’m going 🙂

I'm pretty much out of touch with things like this but I suspect he'll play Edinburgh or somewhere near. I'll go have a look. Ta for the heads up

Saw Fish night before last and it was great, he did Songs from his first album Vigil and the last one Weltschmerz, so it was a good set list.
Packed out as well surprisingly, as he’s now doing things on his own I wasn’t sure what his pulling power would be.
His voice is not what it was but he’s dropped keys on some of the earlier material and it doesn’t spoil it. He does a gorgeous version of Gentlens Excuse Me with just him and the keyboards. Fantastic 🙂
Anyone who was thinking of seeing him before he retires, you should do , as I think you’ll regret it if you don’t.
