Something to ponder during lockdown fever.
Let's be brutally honest - Rhino can't sing, and nor can Andy. So should Quo get a vocalist in? He (or she) would be a sixth member of the band, but at least we could have Big Fat Mama back in the setlist.
Discuss.

I think you are correct that neither Rhino or Andy can be considered lead vocalists. But I think Richie Malone can, so don't know why he isn't singing more songs, as he can hold a tune.

To be honest I think Rhino's vocals are fine, but obviously they are not Rick, so I think when people hear Rhino sing Rick's songs they don't factor in that his vocals are not going to try to sound like Rick therefore giving the songs a different feel. In the most part I think he does a great job vocally. However what the band should maybe do is get Bad News or Run and Hide into the set list and let Rhino loose on his own compositions. Maybe even Gravy Train where his version far outstrips Rick's which for me ruined a perfectly good song.
Richie on the other hand does for me sound like a young Parfitt in a natural way as opposed to mimicking so there is no real need to consider bringing in another vocalist.
Andy to is a fine vocalist if you listen to his solo stuff but maybe his style is not quite suited to Quo in a live setting, but if you take his small contribution on the Backbone album that would be ideal in a live setting

Andy COULD sing - as good as any - but he seems to have lost the range, certainly for live work other than harmonies. As you do when you age. Or most do. Francis is fast becoming an exception to that rule. Personally, I think Rhino's voice is OK but I'm in a minority with that so I'll take it on the chin. I think even Rhino agrees with you Richie sounds like he can hold a toon so the Rick parts could be handed over with confidence I think. And they might well be. Not sure I'd be in favour of getting someone in just to sing the bits that Francis doesn't.

Leave it as it is. Different set list, put a few in Richie can sing. Agree with this and also add a couple of Rhino songs in as well, Gravy Train, Bad News or even Creeping Up on You back in the set. Quo are actually quite lucky as they have 5 vocalists and so could come up with some great harmonies.

It had been in the set for 15+ years, so it more than over stayed its welcome. About time The Oriental was dropped as well. ROLD, Down Down, WYW and RAOTW need to be separated also.

I agree with you up to a point, but if they got rid of Oriental, WYW, RAOTW & SBYBIL I would gladly take CUOY with Rhino singing. From my point of view I actually like Rhino singing his own songs, but I agree he's not got a great singing voice

Not sure I'd be in favour of getting someone in just to sing the bits that Francis doesn't. I confess to being a stranger to Andy's solo work, but his vocal on 'Calling the Shots' shows why he hasn't sung much in Quo, I think... it's interesting but not a particularly strong voice. Add the range loss to that and he's not somebody who I'd pick as somebody who should sing a lot of lead vocals. As has been said, Rhino should be singing his own songs, which would also decrease the comparisons with Rick (which he can only lose). Richie could sing a lot of Rick's stuff to good effect, I think.
