I wonder if we would ever see a CD of Quo songs from other bands doing a cover of their favorite song. Who would people like to see doing what songs. I would like to have Motorhead doing /is their a better way 2 Blackberry smoke/45oo times 3 Slade/paper plane and so on. Be fun to see what bands and songs are put together. Just cos I like country lets have Dolly parton/ living on an island.

What a silly post If such a thing were to happen it is highly unlikely the CD would feature bands who have passed before them. The only potential for this would be a compilation of tracks from other artists who may wish to record a tribute Quo track once Status Quo have called it a day, which will never ing happen. By the time Francis has called it a day and handed over to Rhino, Rhino has called it a day and handed over to Freddie, you wont be ing worried about this. So get yourself a good nights kip.

Don't think it's silly, after all there already are a few Quo songs from other artists out there and it's just a fun topic anyway. We could start the compilation with these : (or any other song sung by Francis - Eric's just great with these) (admittedly not my favourite version) Does FR solo band count ? In that case I'd add his Electric Arena version ..

There's a lot of fun, fantasy and opinion had on this (and any other) board, and this is no different. I think your post is very harsh and uncalled for. If you don't like it, just don't join in. No need to have a go at someone for having a bit of fun....it helps to keep us all entertained

Maybe they could cover one of the AC songs and Leppard it up even more! I think side 1 was more Leppard-esque than side 2. Maybe One for the Money?

What about Oasis? There must be a few early/classic Quo tunes that would suit them!

He isn't going to be handing the band over. Once Rossi is done and retired from Live performance, Status Quo will cease to exist. Why would Freddie be included in this at all. He's never been a member of Quo and was only there to fill in at a couple of gigs they couldn't afford to cancel. Your post is literally the only silly post here. John will carry on with Rhinos Revenge, and Richie and Leon will find another band... Andrew will retire.

Rhino's Revenge is nothing more than a bit of fun allowing him to showcase his limited creativity alongside some Quo songs to help draw an even more limited audience. Different story all together if he had to earn a living from it. When Rossi retires they will continue with the cash cow until there is nothing more to be had.

As I've already stated, as soon as Rossi calls it a day, Quo will cease to exist. Francis is the front man of Quo and the only remaining original member... once he's done, so is the band. Quo is his band after all, and it's not exactly going to be passed down through every band member, that's beyond ridiculous. Only thing in regards to Quo that will continue is releases, with *them* (Universal) digging into the archives. As a live act, absolutely not.

Wrong, it started with Jess Jaworski and has traveled through all ex band members right up to Matt Letley. Even JC and AL from the classic period struggled to make any significant impact in music after leaving Status Quo. There is a stigma and a curse comes with that. Rhino can only find a RR audience by throwing in a few Quo songs and having Quo tribute bands as support acts to attract Quo fans, the rest are made up of of friends and family of the RR band. RR recorded material sales are hardly worth talking about. FR will likely live well into his eighties and will hand the band over when he retires from both recording and live shows. He will likely remain a part owner and probably continue to write so as to maintain an income. Rhino, Richie Malone and Leon Cave will continue with a newly appointed front man (possibly from a trib band). They all have no other hope of earning a living from music on the scale SQ has provided for them. Regardless of anybody's opinions of FR he has been the great survivor. One suspects had he not taken the music path he would have been successful elsewhere - probably in retail of some description.

One suspects had he not taken the music path he would have been successful elsewhere - probably in retail of some description. Leon and Richie could quite happily do Session work with other artists, as they literally have no shares or ownership over Quo... Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi have (had) the biggest shares / ownership over the Quo name / brand, as well as Andy Bown and John Edwards having shares. Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan have small shares in Quo and have had since the reunion tours as they lost, gave up or sold their rights when they left the band originally. Jess Jaworski was never in Quo, just saying. He was in "The Scorpions" and "The Spectres" but not Quo. Rick and Francis have been seen as Quo since 1984 when the whole crossed guitars image first appeared, now it's pretty much just Rossi. You could not replace him with someone from a trib band, mainly because no one could capture an audience like he does and because no one would go and see them. Rhino could carry on with Rhino's Revenge as he would still have royalties coming in from Radio Play of Quo songs and things being released he played on. Andy will retire and could easily release his back catalogue of music to bring in money if he wanted to. Leon started out as a session musician working with Rossi on his solo album and tour. So, as already stated, he could go back to doing that. Richie could join the session musician scene, especially since his work with Quo. Even JC and AL from the classic period struggled to make any significant impact in music after leaving Status Quo.
Well, of course John was going to struggle as he never ever wrote songs and didn't seem too arsed about joining or creating any proper bands post Quo. He already had the Diesel band since mid to late 70s, but that was just a pub band. And Alan's post Quo bands weren't going to go anywhere as he seemed to just want to tour in Australia. It wasn't until '94 / '95 that he started to tour elsewhere, mainly Sweden and Denmark. We'll leave it there for now, as we're de-railing the thread

There are already enough covers out there to make a compilation album. In fact, you could DIY. We now have the technology A new one probably isn't completely out of the question. In fact, after Quo's demise, if there's money to be made from it, you can be sure it'll be done. I'd have Ian Hunter doing Once Bitten Twice Shy.
No, hang on....
