I had a small car journey to do ( a 20 minute one) I had my Backbone CD at the ready and I picked 5 tracks out for the small trip, they were.
1. Liberty Lane 2. Backing Off 3. Falling Off The World 4. Get Out Of My Head 5. Face The Music.
What would yours be at the moment?

1. Liberty Lane 2. Get Out of My Head 3. Falling off the World 4. Running Out of Time 5 Face The Music
It's probably the first time I can remember that I haven't played a new Quo album 3 or 4 times a day for weeks on end. Not because I don't like it, in fact it's excellent, but because I am enjoying the listening experience and taking in each song when I do play it (no idea if that makes any sense). Even Crazy, Crazy has grown on me in the same way that I really loved The Party Ain't Over Yet.
I can't think of a bad song on the album which for a Quo album from any era is saying something.

In no particular order: Waiting For A Woman Liberty Lane Backbone Better Take Care Face The Music The rest is nearly as good though and this was just a spontaneous pick - probably the most obvious ones. I'm the same as johns - I don't much listen to the album now, because when I do, I want to do it consciously to really listen to it and enjoy it. And it's constantly playing in my head anyway ..

1) Cut me some slack 2) Waiting for a Woman 3) I see you are in trouble 4) Liberty Lane 5) Backing off
Grower, I see you are in trouble on the other side Get out of my head was one my favourites after the first listenings and I rather prefer others now...

1. Cut me some Slack 2. Liberty Lane 3. Backing off 4. Better take care 5. Falling off the World
6. Face the Music (I've cheated again and allowed myself 6 on the basis that FTM is not on the album proper and is a bonus track)!!

Isn't it great - a new Quo record where it's difficult to come up with just 5 favourites because there are so many wonderful tunes on it ? Don't think this has ever happened before !
During the 70s it was easy with so few tunes per album and even with my most favourite later albums I don't think I'd have trouble naming 5 favourites. Should probably try it out - something for another thread maybe ?

Thought I'd listen to the album again as I over played it in the first 2 weeks My current top 5 based on the 11 track album that I have. Waiting For A Woman (Love the understated solo) I See You're In Some Trouble (Love the second bit of the first versed when it goes heavy I Wanna Run Away With You (reminds me of something that could've been on 1982) Better Take Care (how can I not love this song, so stupidly catchy) Falling Off The World (this was a grower and has now over taken Get Out Of My Head, which was meant to be in my top 5 )

I have the bonus tracks on 7" , Crazy Crazy takes some time to get used to, I thought Francis sounded pissed at the beginning lol, but it's not a bad song and Face the Music is great and could have easily been on the Rockin' all over the world album.

I think my top 5 remains the same. Although, for me, the first two tracks stand out that much I could pick any other 3 from the album to make up the numbers.

Got to say what I really have is a top 3 Waiting For A Woman Liberty Lane Face The Music The rest is more or less exchangeable as nearly on the same level, although the last time I listened to the album (it's still in the car .. along with WTTM ) it was the first time I skipped two songs: I Wanna Run Away With You (weakest song on the album IMO) and I See You're In Some Trouble.

Face the Music (I've cheated again and allowed myself 6 on the basis that FTM is not on the album proper and is a bonus track)!! Backing Off has probably slipped out of my top 5/6 and been replaced by I See You're in Some Trouble. I do really like Waiting for a Woman, but its not exciting enough to be in my top 5. Also really like Get out of My Head...its slightly different in the context of the album. I often think that I'm not going to like I Wanna Run Away With You, but when I listen to it I really enjoy it. I like the fact that it is standard Quo, yet still really enjoyable. I'm still really liking the album, and rarely skipping anything (although if I only have a short listening window, I do listen to my favourites).

I think it’s strange to see Waiting For A Woman keep cropping up, I thought it was such a ploddy boring song at first, now I love it. Rossi’s playing on it is awesome 👍

I don't think mine have changed. The first 3 certainly remain where they are: Waiting For A WomanCut Me Some SlackFalling Off The WorldAfter that, it's all much of a muchness. Can't really choose between them. Although Better Take Care has grown on me more than anything else on the album. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that, in retrospect, I now see it as Quo's weakest album of their own material since Thirsty Work. Everything from Under The Influence to Bula Quo! and the Aquostic albums I've really liked. Backbone just doesn't seem to have the staying power for some reason. For me anyway. I appreciate that many see it as their best in a long time.
