Looking and sounding great to me 👍

Wow! Just saw it on Youtube, it was a fantastic gig! SO full of energy! Except for Rhinos lead singing everything was fantastic. I’ve said to myself that I never want to see Quo without Rick, but now I got really tempted to catch them again next time they’ll come to Sweden!

I recorded it, been out all day. Just watching it now. First talky bit, Frame on good form, joking about not being able to swear....got a laugh.
Band on good form so far, well up for it. I think this is Radio 2s 10th festival in Hyde Park, and Quo are the first band to play it 3 times (although at least one of those was acoustic).

Interesting thing for me is Westlife who we on after Quo got 30 mins, Quo were on for an hour nearly.
2 minor issues with it for me, Rhinos vocals were too high in the mix and Richie’s guitar was too low in the mix.

Going down well was never in doubt. That's probably why they're asked to play these things. They certainly shake things up a bit. They sounded and looked great and there were a few familiar faces in the crowd. Including a certain cammythemortonfan fan of this parish, jumping around like a Quo fan should Nice one, Cammy I had no idea that the Pet Shop Boys were playing, let alone headlining. They weren't mentioned on the Quo website which I find interesting. It's the cynic in me. Most of us know what Francis thinks of Neil Tennant. No free advertising for them then. Petty but still funny I watched Quo on the red button although sis says it was also on Sky channel 981 - whatever that is. I caught the very end of Pet Shop Boys' performance later but that was all I saw. Nothing in the line up interested me particularly. Oh, and I caught a snippet of Bananarama during a brief highlight thingy late on. Didn't know they were on either.

Love your thread title, craydarr - going by the comments, it's well deserved. Looking forward to reports. mortified , I think Quo get to choose their place on the bill and could've played later and the length of set reflects it. We know though, that Francis prefers a slot in daylight to be able to see the fans. That'll have been the reason why they played before Westlife.

It was craydarr that mentioned the length of the respective sets. I don't really know the first thing about Westlife. Never paid them any attention. But they have been staggeringly popular and held some sort of record for consecutive no.1 singles in the UK. They might still do; no idea. For me, this year has seen the weakest line up for the Hyde Park bash. There's usually more acts than Quo on the bill that I don't mind but there was nowt for me this year. And what I saw of Mick Hucknell reminded me of a demented gnome who's caught one too many fish with that rod of his. Offence intended

But I agree, there was no other rock band like them. I actually think that they were slotted into the schedule later, due to their very good connection to BBC2. Promotion coup by management ?

Not sure. They were sort of on around the time they usually are. That late afternoon slot. I like the medley at the moment with Mystery Song coming after it like Big Fat Mama used to. Richie makes a very good vocal job of that. We both noticed (i.e. she and me) that everyone contributes greatly to the vocals and Leon is as prominent with the harmonies as much as anyone. Having 5 vocalists in a rock band or at least 5 that can do the job more than adequately is pretty impressive and not that common I'd suggest.

I thought they were really good. As good as can be expected at their age! They were really up for it (which they should be by the way).
I thought Frame missed a trick by not promoting the album properly. He mumbled something before LL about this being our latest single, you've probably heard it, or something like that...but nothing about the album. I could tell he was worried about running out of time. Remember a radio 2 live on the radio concert they did a few years ago, and they ran out of time to play RAOTW at the end....Francis was livid!
I thought WYW sounded really good. I have no problem with Andrew singing the lead vocals, I think he's the next best choice after Rick. I must admit that I was a bit nervous for Francis during WYW after seeing a YouTube clip recently of him totally missing out a verse! Hopefully just a one off lack of concentration....he didn't let the side down yesterday. Great performances all round.
They played 55 minutes I think. Decent amount of time, and they seemed to fit a lot in.

I have to say this is the most enjoyable Quo performance I've seen in a long time! A freshness and vibrancy that even made the old "crown jewels" feel like the rockers they were written to be. Rossi was at his best, everyone else was clearly well up for it, Andy, (73!!!) was superb, but my Man of the Match goes to Leon. A good solid drummer has now evolved into a confident, seriously proper rock drummer. Like Glasto 2009 before, Quo rose to the occasion. Well done boys.

Couldn't agree more, I wasn't keen on the last of the electrics dvd, but it was a difficult time for the band. But Leon, I think he's the best drummer since John Coghlan, he tore it up and there was really good chemistry within the band too, love it, I've not seen current Quo live since 2003, but I think I'll try and get tickets for next year though

It always seems to me that Quo are the only act that are EVER worried about their time slot at these things. Live Aid was the same.
They played well but there was no hanging about. Pretty much no banter.
I didn't watch anyone else so I'm not sure if everyone was the same.

Finally got round to watching this on iplayer last night.
Decent performance, Leon’s really grown into it hasn’t he?
Don’t like Rhino’s vocals at all, Richie must be used more.

A channel for the red button. As opposed to pressing the red button I'll remember that though. It might come on quicker. There's always that delay when you press the red button while it warms up. Or something.
