I'd be astonished if he did it but he seems to get talked into all manner of stuff so I shouldn't really be astonished about anything. But, to be fair, rumours about the contestants usually start about now. There were rumours about Rick doing it as well. The problem he had (if he even considered it) was that the prog is recorded and broadcast when Quo will have been in the middle of a winter tour.
Whether Francis does it or not, I won't be contributing to the ratings any more than I do any other year.

The thing is the tv side of the equation seem to be pushing the Harry Redknapp angle, cheeky chippy etc. Simon Porter will say, raised profile, new Quo album and spoken word tour next year , which will increase sales?? I tend to think he has the right to do what he wants, but I am dubious....

Another problem with that show is that half the participants at least have the IQ of an earthworm (sorry, earthworms) and we know Francis might get impatient when confronted with stupidity and in this case large quantities of it. He better not lose weight either and a diet of rice and beans won't help .. There's a lot of reasons and practical ones too why he should not take part.

Francis is not just a product that Simon can sell with any strategy he likes. Somewhere there's something called human dignity still - at least I hope it still plays a role these days ..

Excellent points Chances are ITV could have asked Francis because of the success of Harry Redknapp. Repeat the successful formula type thing. That remind you of anyone?

I think I've watched every series of I'm a Celeb - there are some complete dingbats that take part just for the exposure, but there have been others who have been brilliant. Last year, Anne Hegarty (on of the Chasers from the quiz show of the same name) took part, and she is very clever. She is also autistic, and raised the profile of that condition no end. It can also be a very entertaining show. I've read reports that Francis might be in this year's series - if that is the case then there will obviously not be a winter UK tour, and that will be a shame. I've not seen Quo for a couple of years due to the places they've played being too far away (and finances not permitting!!).

It's not something I watch although I've seen enough snippets to get the general idea. (Didn't that odd woman who studies peoples poo once go on it and pretend to faint every 5 minutes)? I'm aware one of my other heroes went on and won it a few years back, Foggy. Rossi being on the show is unlikely to make me start watching it although it'd be interesting to see the general public's take on his behaviour and indeed, how he is in that type of situation. Always struck me as someone who's comfortable with routine and being in his own environment, which therefore makes him going on, if he does, somewhat odd. Maybe it is a publicity stunt or could even be the lure of cold hard cash, he's not short of a bob or two but his estate needs to be divided many, many ways, due to the number of kids he's got, so every little helps I guess He could even be doing it to wind folk up. As we all know there's folk out there who love to knock him for anything and everything, this will give them some more ammunition no doubt, 'destroying Quo's legacy' and all that other hippy nonsense. As with many of my other musical heroes, e.g. Noel Gallagher or Keith Richards, his ability to not give a flying hoot what others think is a massive part of his appeal. Good luck to him I say

Personally, I think the show's bollox and reflects the public's fixation with 'reality' TV programmes and the chance to have an influence. Reality in the sense that it is actually happening but in no other sense of the word, I hasten to add. It doesn't seem like Francis's thing to me but that might appeal to the side of his nature that he says makes him do stuff that goes against the grain of what's expected of him. I've not seen that many episodes in the last 10 years; the odd one when my stepdaughter was at home. I do remember John Lydon (bit of a hero of mine) telling the woman who did the Royal Family stuff on the news that she looked like the blonde one from Status Quo before walking off and telling them to shove it But rumours always abound about who is going on the show. Last one I think I actually saw had Tony Hadley jumping out of a plane. Unfortunately, he had a parachute

I used to watch it when we had this great intelligent moderator (Dirk Bach). It was worth it for his sharp and subtle comments alone. And you at least knew two or three campers. Interestingly more often than not the most prominent won. These days it's third rate 'celebrities' taking part in the jungle camp. Participating in some casting show (not winning it !) obviously is enough to become a celebrity. And from then on being a celebrity becomes their job. So IMO someone who has actually achieved something in life, like Francis, should steer well clear of the scenario.

I don't think doing this show would be FR's style. He prefers the quite homely life in his South London mansion when he is not touring and living in a bus.

I won't ask .. Isn't it that South London simply reaches into Surrey ? *sheasksinnocently* So what has become of this Celebrity rumour ? Anything more been leaked or was it just to fill the headlines while there was no football on (I hope !) ?

I live in SURREY and it would take me 15 mins to drive to frans house in SURREY. Purley has not been in Surrey since 1965. South Londoner's just wish they lived in Surrey. Read below: Purley is a town in South London . It is located south of Croydon, and is situated 11.7 miles (18.8 km) south of Charing Cross. It has a population of about 14,000. In 1915 Purley and the neighbouring town of Coulsdon formed the Coulsdon and Purley Urban District which in 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, was abolished and its area transferred to Greater London and used to form part of the London Borough of Croydon. There's no argument!

I'm with Morty on this one, anything South of Birmingham and North of Calais is London, including that sticky out bit on the end where they eat Pasties and Surf, still London. London and Purley are just boroughs in Central London, Brighton and the like is outer London, fact

People who live in Croydon and Purley wrongly claim to live in Surrey and are frequently seen patrolling their concrete jungles in wellington boots tending to their old plastic mop bucket planted Peruvian Lillies.

Ah, that explains why Loz is so obsessed with plants and what she's doing with them all day. I've heard Francis is fond of gardening too - can we please add a straw hat to the picture
