Backbone doesn’t immediately grab me, need to hear it a few more times.
Liberty Lane gets better every time I hear it, love it.

Thanks for putting these up, guys Both songs are extremely catchy. I rather like both of them on first listen. Backbone is certainly quite repetitive (but then so is Caroline ) but there are nice harmonies in there. Francis's vocals seem quite low in the mix but that may just be an impression from my PC. Although someone also said that yesterday on here. One of the guitar parts in Liberty Lane reminded me of something when I watched the live version a few weeks ago and I've just remembered what it is; Let's Spend The Night Together by the Stones. Both tracks sound somehow modern; and both are very guitar driven. Promising. Very. And certainly NOT your average Quo shuffle. I hope there's at least one or two of those on the album Although Cut Me Some Slack sounds like one.

Love Liberty Lane , but the vocals on the recording sound weak compared to the ones we’ve seen live ?
I think Backbone will be a grower, when it started I was thinking of RnRnY and then it went in another direction. Good track, slightly different👍

I wonder if a pattern is forming here about the vocals. Interesting.

The album has now been shunted forward to the front page of iTunes as available to pre-order. But there are still no tracks available to buy. But they're using the new marketing tools of Spotify, iTunes, YouTube and Facebook as well as Radio 2 to get the album across. All working hard behind the scenes to ensure maximum exposure. Changed days. Can you imagine a 3-month drip fed build-up to an album's release in, say, 1979? We've more or less heard 4 tracks now (admittedly, including the John David song). Not sure I want to hear any more if I'm honest. I'm old fashioned that way

Just as a little addition to the discussion, I find Liberty Lane to be the very much more commercial sounding of the two. The sort of thing they'd have released as a single in the past so it's no surprise to me that they're leading the promotion with it. It certainly sticks in your head very quickly.

I did resist visiting the link. I've heard the live tracks and the John David song (his version) and I won't listen to any more till I actually own the album myself. So this is where I have to leave the discussion in this thread ..

I have to say after the initial shock when I first listened to this song a few days ago it's now growing on me. When I first heard it, like others I found the main riff repetitive and the production watered down and the vocals too low in the mix, But I like how it's almost experimental Quo, love the drumming that breaks up the song and the backing vocals towards the end, it feels like a full band collaboration , which hasn't really been heard for years, possibly since their hey day. Overall, to me it's nowhere near their best and 'Cut me some slack' is still the best song I've heard so far, but at least they are still trying new things and not trying to be the same, I'll admit, I'm not as excited for the album as I was though What songs from writers are you most looking forward to hear? for me, Leon's just because he was never a fan of the band and he is an artist in his own right, I think Richie's will be very Quo as we all know his story.

Listened to the title track a few times on Spotify, but think it is pretty average at best unfortunately, so don’t think I’ll be revisiting it much. First 5 seconds are great, fantastic sounding guitar riff, but then the full band kicks in, and for me, all the energy and excitement disappears. Turns into a rather weak and mundane track.
Still it is only one track, hopefully there will be something else on the album that is more to my liking.

Like flawed, I thought it was a little limp at first as well but it grew on me pretty quickly. I prefer it to Liberty Lane but there isn't much in it. It will be interesting to see what Leon's song is like. Certainly, Matt's small contribution was very good.
