Thought I would have quick look to see if Quo had announced any concerts for end of year..sadly none ☹️ BUT a little memory popped into my head...the excitement of hiding out at work to be on that phone at the time the tickets were on sale to bag a ticket ... anyone else do that 😂

It was always tricky. I was lucky. I was on flexi-time so I used to drag myself into work after I'd been on the phone at 9am sharp. It usually took a while to get through and to get tickets, so I was never in work until closer to lunch time. Heading home much later than I wanted to It used to be a team effort though. I'd do certain gigs and my sis would do others at the same time. So while I called Birmingham NEC and Newcastle City Hall, she'd be on to Glasgow SECC and York Barbican It was the same in the 70's and 80's. If Quo were playing both Edinburgh and Glasgow - which was rare - she'd queue up early doors outside, say, Edinburgh Playhouse and I'd be standing shivering outside Glasgow Apollo for hours on end. Happy memories? Hmm, it's maybe up for debate

No never did that. The best tickets I ever got must have been in '84 at the NEC. 4 rows from the front via the fan club. If I remember correctly, they announced it was the End Of The Road tour so I got the NEC tickets. They they announced the final gig at Crystal Palace so I got tickets for that. Then as it sold out so quickly they quickly renamed that gig as the Farewell London gig and Milton Keynes was the final gig so I got tickets for that too. For a poor 18 year old apprentice that was an expensive time. Happy memories though ' except it was the end if the road.... (they weren't splitting up though...) ;-)

They did precisely the same thing with the reunion. Announced the tour, so there was a mad scramble for the very first gig. Then added another very first gig

Never bothered us. Venues had always been standing. You bought tickets and stood where you chose to - or where there still was space - or where your parents told you to .. Thank god most venues are still standing to this day. Makes for a far better atmosphere.

Thank god most venues are still standing to this day. Makes for a far better atmosphere. That was always the biggest problem in the UK. It probably still is. Most of the gigs Quo played were all seated. There used to be exceptions like Bridlington and York, for example, so tickets for those were less of a scramble. And they took the seats out of the Usher Hall in Edinburgh in 2006. It made it a fabulous gig as a result. I never really understood why gigs abroad were always standing and in the UK they were most often seated. Not sure if it was a licence or health and safety thing or what. But other acts seemed to have the seats removed without any difficulty. Wonder if it costs more to have them taken away To be fair, even way back across the decades, gigs were all seated. From Glasgow Apollo to Birmingham NEC and all points in between.

They were set up for the gig and afterwards removed again. Always had me wondering why they put them in in the first place. For people unable to stand, there's always the sides and the back, same as here.

Someone was playing the NEC the night after the Rick gig. I can't remember who it was (Tears for Fears rings a bell) but presumably it was going to be all standing. When I first started seeing Quo at Glasgow SECC after the Apollo was demolished, it was a standing venue. That was in 1986. But they started putting seats in during the 90's. This was just for Quo gigs though. I saw Faithless and the Rolling Stones there in the noughties and it was all standing.

That was the funny thing about the NEC in 84. We were seated and obviously as soon as the band came on everyone stood up but then the seats started to be passed over head from the from the front!

Never have liked seated..always go for standing ... but even seats don't stop QUOERS standing! How can you sit ! I know some of us have no option as we age though.

I remember sitting 7 rows back center stage at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015, waiting for Quo to come on to perform an Aquostic gig. To my left was a smartly dressed couple enjoining a box of chocolates!!! My thoughts went back went back to a year earlier jumping up and down with the sweaty crowd at Hammersmith to 4500 Times

I saw them at Edinburgh Castle with The Beachboys and it was glorious weather. Although it didn't stop Francis wearing his fleece throughout. Lightweight Typical UK really; you have no idea what you're going to get from one day to the next
