I know it probably doesn’t mean anything in sales but Frans been no1 in the UK Country music charts for the last 2 weeks. br] I’m sure as he’s such a Country fan he’ll be made up with that . 🙂

That's Francis and Hannah - and yep, I'm sure they'll both be well pleased. I wonder though how many charts there actually are ? If just a few 1000 mean you can get top 3 in the overall charts, it probably means a few 100 are enough to top any of the specialised charts. Still, it's the times we're living in now. And I suppose the album might stay up there a little while longer - while the tour goes on. Is there something like a book chart too ?

There is a book chart I think. Certainly "Waterstones" here have a best sellers' chart. I dare say they have an autobiography chart. Charts help focus a customer's mind and simplify the choices I think music charts are now more or less an irrelevance. Other than a bit of an indication of popularity that is. The fact that you can download or stream individual tracks makes 'album' chart calculation nigh on impossible.

The albums currently at no2 in Country charts, So it’s still ticking over 👍 That's quite a number of weeks by now, so I suppose sales from the shows will count towards them as well ? (although I've no idea how that'll work and how they're actually counted ). In these days of streaming to actually sell a product the talk tour seems to have a positive impact. I know, this one's mainly about the book, but they do share the name and selling the CD certainly is a calculated positive side effect. So I wonder if he'll record another album with Hannah, will he/they do something similar again ?

I don’t know for certain but I don’t think the sales at the shows count for the charts, that’s normally physical sales in certain outlets and streaming. I did see an interview the other day with him, the Country chart thing was mentioned and he said he was made up with that, or words to that effect. He did say in the FTMO mag that if the album was successful he would like tour with her. I suppose it depends what you call successful? There is a massive Arena Country tour called C2C that tours the Uk and Europe each year, it would be interesting to see if he could get on that. I don’t know if he would as it’s mainly “big” US acts and I’m not so sure he may be taken seriously by Country fans. Interesting thought, Will or has this album had a US release??

Interesting thought, Will or has this album had a US release??It would seem unlikely. But I guess you never know. The problem with releasing it in the US is that music like this is ten a penny. It would probably get swallowed up without some serious marketing - not sure if that would be cost-effective. The Francis Rossi name would sell a certain number of tickets on any tour. Can you imagine him playing pubs and clubs and mingling like Rhino does? Anything Quo related rarely surprises me but that would!

Maybe down to the gap in his talk show schedule ? In that case it should pick up again when he continues ..

Good luck to them, but I really dont get on with this album sorry. I'm a Rossi fan and I loved One Step at a Time ...the new one is just bland though just flat nothing ..

That's what I thought too at first. Then, weeks later, I listened to it with random mode and through head phones. And suddenly I thought this isn't so bad actually, not brilliant like OSAAT, but definitely quite pleasant. Maybe this will work for you as well ?

The odd track where I think "this is OK" but if it wasn't for the fact that it was Francis, ordinarily I wouldn't give it the time of day. But it's his thing. Fair play to him. He's earned the right to do what he likes. And he doesn't like what we like

Talk shows continue tonight, so hopefully more reports to follow - and we still don't know who shares the top floor of the bus with him now ..

I wish these line dancing feckers would stop buying it. Then we might get a Quo album.

That is impressive (by today's standards ..). He'll be over the moon. As opposed to my expectations and to my first perception I now like the album and so far don't skip any songs. From a Quo fan's selfish perspective I'd wish though, it wasn't quite as successful, so he'd return to the day job eventually ..

From a Quo fan's selfish perspective I'd wish though, it wasn't quite as successful, so he'd return to the day job eventually .. My first perception remains exactly the same. I only really like about 3 tracks. And by 'like' I mean they're OK and I don't automatically move on to the next one. The selfish part I wholeheartedly agree with I'm happy for him if it's doing well. I'm unhappy for me if it's doing well

Shouldn't the talk show tour be over any time soon ? Guess that's when it will go down the rankings.
Overall though to stay in the charts (whichever charts ..) for two months or more is quite a feat. I've recently looked up Quo album positions and most albums merely stayed in there for 2-3 weeks. With Aquostic 1 the outstanding exception and a run of 23 (!) weeks. A2 did surprisingly well as well - far better in fact than you would've thought from opinions on the mb.
Leads to the question - who buys these albums ? Not (just) Quo fans I dare say .. And who buys F+H's country album ? My guess would be at least part of them are Quo fans of old, who have long since stopped going to gigs, but who seem to go to these talks shows. Then I suppose it has been played in country charts and other country formates and the general listeners have caught on.
