Not so often I put a Quo DVD on these days but as the wife's away I thought I'd indulge and put the JDI DVD on. I've often said my fave Quo gig was Preston on the Heavy Traffic tour, closely followed by the 4 FF gigs I did at Hammersmith in 13/14. I think I've overlooked the gem that is JDI though, maybe, just maybe, it was the best of the lot. I recall being there, honked it down constantly on the M6. Was sat in the back of my brothers Civic on the journey down, knocking back the odd can or seven Love the start. Caroline, obviously, but the three of them, (Frame, Rick, Rhino), backs to the audience and the look on Matt's face, awesome. A band on the absolute top of it's game. Still watching it now and the setlist throws up the odd surprise. DWMT third? x4500 and of course the infamous line, 'guess who's back'? Talking of which, watching Rick belting out the HYB intro, you almost forget he's gone. I have no words that accurately describe just how immense that man was, so I'm not going to bother trying. May 2006, nigh on 13 years ago now. Watching it just reminds me why I love Quo so much, what a band, what a collection of songs, what an absolute pleasure to have 'been there'. Can't wait for June in Manchester, been a while since I've had my Quo fix, long overdue.

It was a terrific gig. 6 months before, most of us thought Rick was on his way out. Rumours on the official message board went into overdrive. The tour had been cancelled and I'd got all my money back on the tickets. It was quite a bit. We used to do at least half a dozen on the winter tour in them days and I usually organised two or three tickets for each. So Sick Rick paid for a very indulgent Christmas that year Me, the then Mrs Mortified and sis flew down to Birmingham in the morning and stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel next to the venue. The place was packed with Quo fans, including a couple of guys from State of Quo who did a little acoustic (and impromptu) singalong set at about 2 in the morning! I still have photos of the bar area in the hotel in the afternoon. It was Quaos I remember meeting Mike Hrano for the first time. I also had a leather kilt on and was sporting THE most ridiculous red and blonde (official colour caramel ) hair cut! I haven't watched the DVD in easily more than a decade. The gig doesn't even seem anything like more than a decade ago but everything is like that as you get older; time speeds up. Living does go so fast. The CD that came with the DVD, of course, was released in mono and was a real disappointment. I think some got theirs changed but I never got round to it. I always meant to get the DVD converted to mp3 or CD. You've just reminded me to do it! It was the start of a run of truly memorable gigs, including Henley a couple of months later and the legendary Paris L'Olympia gig in October 2006. Two of my very favourites. Thank you for stirring the memories and helping to wake me up of a morning

I haven't watched the DVD in ages either, but I know exactly where you're coming from, @bam . I used to love it for all the things you've mentioned and more, and despite the first sentence, it still is one my most watched Quo videos. I even love the short documentary showing the venue being set up for the gig .. Somehow I've merely watched a Quo vid once since Rick's passing and it felt weird. Maybe I should take it out again one of these nights and start watching again ? Now that you've mentioned them - we want the photos !

There will be people in them who don't want published on a public forum. Especially given the state they were in Actually, none of them are digital apart from one which is on my external hard drive. It's of my ex. D'you think she'd mind? Best not....

I was present too at this concert. It was my first Quo gig to attend outside of Ireland. After the show ended, someone filmed this footage back at the bar in the Crowne Plaza hotel.

With Scottish Helen (Nickenig) and Cammy the Morton Fan very prominent! And Kim Queen of Quo in the background. Nice one. That takes me back
