Last Quo album so far, released three years ago and it feels like ages. So much has happened since with Rick's passing marking the end of an era.
After A1 and the band deciding to go acoustic full time, I guess most of us had been wondering how they were planning to make a prolonged success from the concept.
A2 left me at least completely bewildered in that respect. How A2 was released and marketed couldn't have been worse IMO. If it really was their plan to make the acoustic thing work, why on earth did they treat it like some throw-away album ?? The whole timing was a shambles and it certainly can't be excused with Rick not having been around for the Last Night Of The Electrics tour. And I haven't even mentioned the quality of the album ..
Which was dubious I dare say. I can't really put my finger on what the big difference to A1 is, but A2 just left me cold - and that's a fact.
Voting on it is going to be difficult for me as I haven't listened to the album in a long time and merely a few times in total anyway. Putting up the poll and reading through the titles I couldn't help but think that nearly all tracks have left me uninterested. Mainly, with very few exceptions, it's either I'm already happy with the original and can't see an improvement or I've never liked the song in the first place. Which leaves the three new songs. The 'One' songs are Ok, I suppose, while ISRYH just isn't good enough for my taste.
Overall the whole album lacks the emotions, the endearing bits and merely comes across as an intellectual exercise 'What can we do with this ?'
Enjoying music is about (positive) emotions though ..
