Not sure if they are just playing a new song or interviewing Fran as well, but there is something to do with Fran on Ken’s show today.

Just heard it in the car. Not too sure, maybe it’s a grower.

Song is about 1 hour and 40 minutes into the show - www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0002bynDidn't do a whole lot for me, has energy I'll give it that, but not a tune I found infectious at all. Don't feel a need to give it a second listen.

Not the worst song I've ever heard, expected it to be more Country/Folk sounding for some reason but it's ok, if the whole album was similar I'd buy it.

Dark - thanks for putting up the link Not completely convinced, but maybe it's a grower. Does come across more like a FR solo song - he has used female backing singers before - and less than a duo effort though. I know I'm not good at this, but I can't hear a fiddle on this one. Maybe there's other songs where HR's contributions are more prominent ? At least that's what I hope ..

The song is on you tube now, but I haven't a clue how to put on here.

Can't seem to get the link to work. The site wants me to register and sign in but I can't see yesterday's show anyway I think there's a live streaming Ken Bruce show on at the moment.

I really like the song, very catchy, I find the backing vocals on the chorus are very much like the backing vocals in the early 80's Quo, especially from the 1*9*8*2 album.
I've heard the clips from the rest of the album, and it doesn't appeal to me at all so probably won't buy it, but have just bought this song though lol.

Heard a lot worse. It is very catchy but maybe eventually in an irritating sort of way But not yet. Not sure what Hannah Rickard is doing on this one. Vocals presumably. Somewhere. The high pitched backing vocals are reminiscent of early 80's Quo as flawed said. I always tended to put those high vocals down to Bernie Frost's involvement. They usually turned up on a Rossi/Frost composition. Talking of high pitched, Francis's vocals are in a quite a high key here. I wonder if they've been tinkered with and if he'd struggle to replicate them live. This is OK (and I don't mean this as a criticism) but it sounds like something that might have ended up as the B-side to a Quo single way back when.

Why does he do this to himself I wonder ? It's a reoccurring thing as well - there's one or two on OSAAT where I thought the same.

It's not for me this one. Intro sounds like ELO's 'Mr Blue Sky' IMO, the rest just grated.
I'll try to remain open minded but based on this I suspect it'll be like 'Over and Out', buy it, listen to it once and then not bother again.
Frame without Rick, Rick without Frame, just not the same.

I like it, I haven't purchased a new CD for a while but I will buy this. Always liked a bit of country, which I believe most of the tracks will be.

I've listened to it again and you can hear Hannah's vocals in the background during the chorus. But they are quite far back in the mix. They are more noticeable on headphones to be fair. I don't know what it is about Francis but he does seem to like these squeaky little keyboards as fillers or as part of the main melody. And he's been using them in a lot of his compositions since the early 80's. I noticed them when Faded Memory was first released and feared the worst for the album but thankfully they were used sparingly. They turn up again in the closing bars of this one as well. He obviously really likes the sound. I tend to shiver - and not in a good way - when I hear them! Personally, I think Hannah's violin would have sounded better given that it seems to be the effect he's trying to achieve. But, all in all, this is OK. I'm being over-analytical (as usual ). It's really just a jolly little toon.

Was expecting it to more in the style of Aquostic...countrified. Don't feel need to listen to again...not catchy enough ... stick with Quo Francis and give us what we love...Andy a few dates at theatres for us old Quoers

I've actually just downloaded it from iTunes. The song is a Rossi/Young composition. It's being touted as the 'single' on the official Quo site.

I See Fran has been "C" Listed on the Radio 2 playlist. That's at sort of lucky to get any airplay at all level Never sure why they have different levels of playlists. Either a song is on or it's off. Wonder who sifts through them and takes the decision. If Andi Peters is on the panel, he's lucky not to be on the "Z" list Bottom line is, he's doing what pleases him. If it sells, it's a bonus. If not, he's got his day job. Very few 'solo' albums from just about any band artist do very much. Right to the top of the tree.

It sounds like one of his dodgy 80's collaborations with Bernie Frost.

It sounds like one of his dodgy 80's collaborations with Bernie Frost. Yeah, the intermittent high pitched backing vocals are reminiscent of those heady 80's days. It doesn't really have Bob Young's stamp on it to these ears but that's probably down to the production. I've heard a lot worse but I've obviously heard better. I don't think the album will be getting to no.4 in the national chart like Rick's did but you never know with the right marketing.
