There's a thread on this kicking about somewhere else. I was surprised myself, I must admit. I'd be guessing that Quo have always been more popular than Skynyrd in the UK. But it's a pretty good guess! Supporting Queen and Rod Stewart in the past was one thing; this is something else entirely. But I am presuming the reasons are two fold. 1. Casually sneak the band back into the public consciousness after the debacle of 2017; 2. It's a good pay day; However, if this sells out the Hydro in Glasgow in June I shall be forced to eat my words and say that Lynyrd Skynyrd are massively more popular than I thought. It's a huge venue.

It's a good pay day; However, if this sells out the Hydro in Glasgow in June I shall be forced to eat my words and say that Lynyrd Skynyrd are massively more popular than I thought. It's a huge venue. For one, it's a 'last ever' tour. They tend to sell far better than usual. There's something about the general public - an urge to be able to say I've been there, I've seen them. I'd assume it'll work with LS as well. And it's a clever move from their perspective to have Quo with them. Quo will probably generate more fans than LS themselves, so they won't play to half empty venues. Their management may have underestimated the fact that Quo are a great live band and might blow them off the stage though. So if this combination sells out the Hydro I'd be inclined to think it's not down to LS's general popularity. The only thing I can think of that Quo can gain from it ? As you've mentioned, it has to pay very, very well .. LOZ - I was talking about the pic, not the band ..
