Oi, this is going to get very hard for me. I don't like the album - the one negative exception in a row of very good to great original albums since UTI. Usually I say it would've made a good EP - take the first three and forget about the rest, so I'll have to find 5 more I can tolerate. Not an easy task ..
How about you ?

I'm the opposite. One of my very favourite Quo albums! So picking 8 wasn't all that easy. However, I've gone for: Gotta Get Up And Go All That Counts Is Love Familiar Blues The Bubble Belavista Man Goodbye Baby You Never Stop Cupid Stupid
But all of the others are worthy apart from maybe the title track, which I always thought was so-so. But tolerable. I dare say I'd get shot but I have it up there with the very best of their albums, which includes Just Supposin' by the way . And you don't like that either

Well, I have to say, I was very disappointed with the album especially after the 'You'll Come 'Round' which I considered the best Quo single since Dear John. I remember some talk about the album a year earlier about them doing some collaborations with other artists or having guests on the album or something like that, I maybe wrong though, but I'm guessing they didn't have enough time to fulfil that idea, to me the album feels rushed, there were a lot of great ideas on the album but exicuted badly. If they took a bit longer on the album, I think it would've been better.
But saying that, I absolutely loves Gotta Get Up And Go and This Is Me.
my top 8 are: Gotta Get Up And Go Familiar Blues The Bubble Belavista Man Velvet Train You Never Stop Cupid Stupid This Is Me
And one final thing, I love Quo to bits, but always preferred them trying something rather than the shuffle, and it was sad to see the best songs on this album had the shuffle, just gets a little tiresome at times.
I have to say the middle part of Velvet Train is fantastic as was impressed when Mark Lamar played that song on radio 2 when they were promoting it.

I recall rumours or discussions about that as well. Can't quite remember the timing though. I'm personally glad it never came to fruition after the collaborations on Don't Stop. It would have unquestionably meant more covers. I agree about You'll Come Round. Their best single for many a decade, possibly since the 70's for me.

Yes, completely agree about You'll Come Round ! Why they never played it live will always remain a mystery to me .. At least Francis included it in his solo set, same as numerous other great tunes old and new (!), that we'd never get a chance to hear live otherwise. Which led to my believing it was Rick who didn't want it in (if I'm still allowed to say so ) and maybe Rhino. They could've replaced Creepin' with Lucinda though and Rick would've still had his share. All water under the bridge now ..

But they did include the follow-up single, Thinking Of You, for a short time which I don't think was nearly as good. But it maybe had a perceived audience participation quality

For me it’s
Party Gotta Get Up Familiar Blues The Bubble Nevashooder This Is Me Belavista Man.
I’ve gone for Kick Me When I’m Down for my final Choice but it could easily have been Cupid as they are very close.
I think I chose Kick Me because it had the least votes .

I just read about it on the old message board and I think the band themselves mentioned it at the time. You'll Come Round is one of those rare songs in more recent years that most Quo fans agree on. And even non Quo fans seemed to like it. I remember a couple of people in the office back then saying how much they rated it after it had been played on some radio breakfast show or other for a few days.

I loved hearing it on Francis solo tour (ok, dvd, never got the chance to go). Didn't he say a few felt it was wrong for the set? I could be wrong, I absolutely loved lucinda, main part felt like Quo by numbers, but once you hit the middle and solo, it took the song to another level, which felt fresh for Quo, the same feeling I felt about 'You'll Come Round', like they still could write some kick ass original tunes that could rival the 70's.

One of their best albums ever! Regarding You'll come around, for me a very weak Quo-track and so no wonder why it is not on an album. Thinking of you is the much "Quoier" and better track. But of course tastes are different.

You're right - and it's why I said Rick and Rhino .. Their reasoning behind it is beyond me though. IMVHO it's a lot more Quo than anything on the Party album, apart from maybe GGUAG. That could've really kicked off with the second verse had they Quo'ed it up, but instead it more comes across like an acoustic song recorded with electric guitars - if you know what I mean ?

This wasn't an easy task! My feelings for this album is very divided; GGUAG and Belavista Man are (in my opinion of course) among the strongest songs during the UTI-QPQ era, but the rest of the album feels quite average.... Anyway, I tried to make a decent 8-track vinyl album, and this is what it looks like: Side A 1. Gotta Get Up And Go 2. The Party Aint Over Yet 3. Nevashooda 4. Belavista Man
Side B 1. You Never Stop 2. The Bubble 3. Kick Me When I'm Down 4. Goodbye Baby

On the other hand, Cupid Stupid and You Never Stop are amongst the worst tracks Quo have ever recorded IMO. The A side is enough surely ..

It sure isn't easy to fill a good eight track album with this material. I agree that the lyric in BM is very corny, but as it is sung with so much "tounge-in-cheek" and with a "boyish glimpse in the eye" I can still buy it (it maybe makes it easier that english isn't my first language too)

That could've really kicked off with the second verse had they Quo'ed it up, but instead it more comes across like an acoustic song recorded with electric guitars - if you know what I mean ? That's a pretty apt description and the reason why GGUAG is a 4-star instead of a 5-star song (the only 5-star song I see on the LP is Belavista Man) for me. This is where a better producer could have intervened and said "we need to build this up more carefully so it has some dynamics". Alas, the entire album sounds like the fire is missing, and I find myself not reaching for it at all. My 8 songs are: TPAOY GGUAG Belavista Man Velvet Train Goodbye Baby (lots of potential, but these awful lyrics...) You Never Stop (not great, the problem is that there are two really good songs here that have been sown together and they don't work well together) Kick Me When I'm Down (also not great, but I had to choose something) This Is Me (mainly for the lyrics, musically I don't care for it) I could have included The Bubble but I think it's way too long and doesn't really go anywhere. The songs I didn't list are really 'meh' imo. The whole album underwhelms me.

I'm actually surprised All That Counts is Love is far more unpopular than the title song .. And it would me nice if this album would get a few more voters. I know, it's much easier to choose the tracks when you like the album. Simply consider this a challenge - but if you go for it, you might be surprised with your priorities.

I certainly reckon they'll try and tour the UK again this winter if they can get the backing. The new album will probably come out around September....you don't even have to buy it these days to give it a listen and see if you like any of the songs. Just keep in touch to see what's going on, and only part with your cash when you feel the need. And in between there's 30 albums and 300 live concerts to choose from! They can still cheer us up when it's required.
