I read Craydar’s Rhino report and would like to echo what was said about the gig in Troon.
What an enjoyable night!
The evening was hosted by Tom Russell and was in a function room in the Concert Hall.
First up were local rock band Concrete Kingdoms and they did an excellent job in warming up the crowd.
Rhino’s band were fantastic. It was amazing to watch guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick up close - there’s not a thing he can’t do with that guitar.
The night had a spontaneous feel- the set list differed slightly not only in order but also in content to what was printed.
This made the evening feel just for us.
We got an impromptu Roadhouse Blues, with the Quo fans in attendance giving it laldy.
Also got.a new song , Never too Old ( to rock n roll)
I think it was big Allan behind me who sang back Never too old....to get your hole”!!! It really caught on and a lot of fun was had trying to explain to Rhino what this Scottish Euphemism meant ( for non Scots trading this it means to get some sex !)
Great to meet Allan and his brother and also Dylan and his good lady.
Rhino was gracious as ever having a wee chat at the end- he really gives everyone a lot of his time and it’s appreciated.
All in all, a great night
One footnote- there was one guy who was really drunk and wanted to shake Jim’s hand in the middle of a solo. Bizarre !!!Glad you had a great night. Lucky you for getting Roadhouse Blues.
