Did you buy the QSP album? Suzi Quatro, Andy Scott and Don Powell from Slade. It's SO good! Three legends and they go together so well.

….I was surprised to see Andy played at Wacken in August. Quo, Alice, Sweet, well, what's left of them, they all have played that festival in the mud in recent years.
I see what you did there I was never a huge Sweet fan although the odd single was good. And, of course, their B-sides became almost legendary. I was just never a glam rock fan back in the day. I have half a dozen singles, the best of which I have always thought were Turn It Down and Action. But these were a little past their chart topping hey day.

I saw an old interview with Brian Connolly the other day; I think it was from about 1995. He was in a right state. He was explaining about his medical condition and that there was a total misconception in the media about it being alcohol related. I can't remember what it was but it affected his heart and ultimately killed him. I think people to this day think he died an alcoholic but apparently that's not true. Shame. Anyway, my two faves by this glittery lot. The first one was banned by Radio 1 because Brian Connolly says " degenerate bum" in the first line. Changed days! Action is very queen influenced I think. Listening to it now anyway.

I did like Suzie Q. and Sweet back then, not a fan as such, but both had a lot of good songs, so I guess I should get me that album that Tony mentions too. I do wonder though if Andy is wearing a wig .. his hair just doesn't look right .. One of my favourite Sweet tunes, basically the same formula that drew me to Quo: rockin + melodic - and they were so good at those harmonies: .. and Suzie :

I saw the Sweet twice, once at the Southend Kursaal and the Rainbow Theatre in North London just before Christmas 1973. I loved the heavier sound of Hellraiser, Blockbuster, Teenage Rampage, The Six Teens, Action & Ballroom Blitz. Wouldn't mind seeing Andy Scott's Sweet at the Quo convention next year.

I never got to see them. I used to go to dozens of concerts because I lived in the centre of Edinburgh and just sort of turned up on a whim occasionally to see if I could get in. Saw loads of acts in that way, even those I wasn't keen on. But Sweet I think only played once and it was sold out. I did take sis to see some glam acts because that was her thing (till she saw Quo ). Mud, Sparks, David Essex, Bay City Rollers, Slik (remember them? - the dawning of Midge Ure) and a few others.

Suzi...
I don't think it's a wig. Andy had prostate cancer a couple of years ago. He's fine again now. He said he didn't lose his hair under the treatment, but it lost its colour. He said he just let it grow, and it just kept growing. But I agree, it looks a bit "unreal".
Easy to tell you're a teacher ..
