Some of you may be interested in a short gig report about the Caribana festival in Nyon, Switzerland on Wednesday.
This is a small festival for a few thousand people.
It’s an interesting set up as there are two stages- the bands alternate between the stages as do the audiences .
On the main stage at half seven were a band called Eluveitie. If you imagine a cross between Megadeth and Riverdance, that sums them up.
Then it was over to the other stage to see a guy called Mat Bastard!!
Mid way through his set we moved back over and got a good spot for Quo, who were due on at ten o clock.
The crowd got more populous around us the minutes ticked by as we awaited Quo’s arrival.
At the Caribana each band gets 75 minutes so the latest additions to the set eg Mystery Song and Backwater were left out.
Paper Plane returned to the middle of the set after the medley and Burning Bridges was back in the encore ahead of Bye Bye Johnny.
The band played well, seemed in good spirits and the crowd enjoyed it with the rain , which had come on heavily ahead of Quo’s appearance and stayed on lightly throughout , not dampening anyone’s enthusiasm .
It was my pal’s first time seeeing the band without Rick- he still enjoyed it . For him the song of the night was Down Down which, over the last few years, has become a good audience participation song at the start and the end.
So, all in all, another hugely enjoyable gig.

If you imagine a cross between Megadeth and Riverdance…. No, in all honesty, I can't! Cheers for the report, Cammy. Still nipping off abroad to see this lot, eh? Sounds a strange arrangement with the last act before Quo suffering from crowd movements half way through their set. And the rain at an outside Quo gig is almost mandatory. Pity about Backwater though. Although they were hardly going to leave out the hits. There are other contenders though.
