Anybody going to any of the summer festivals ? There isn't one too close from here and I haven't really even considered booking tickets, but if there'd be a major set list overhaul (reoccurring theme, I know .. ) this summer already I might change my mind .. This RMC thing though made me very much aware how much I despise the hits by now when it comes to Quo. Actually, forget about all I've written above. The summer festivals are not for Quo fans, the hits work there and will be played. So back to the original question - any of you going and if yes, to which one ?

Nah, I don't like festivals anyway. Can't be bothered to listen to a lot of the acts that are on before Quo. And I'm not one for going to festivals because it's a festival. That seems to be the motivation these days. Tickets are snapped up long before the line-up is known so it's all about the, eh, festival experience. The summer gigs in the UK in the past used to really just be Quo gigs with one support act in pleasant surroundings and, hopefully, nice weather. Things like the 80's retro festival "Rewind" go on for 3 days. I know you only have to go for one day but if it's the 3rd day, there are 20,000 people already in front of you! I'm still toying with the Middlesbrough gig in July but it's a town hall and more like a winter gig I expect. I'm not bothered but sis is being particularly pushy about it. Been avoiding her since last week

No, despite the fact that they will we local to be at the Sunshine Festival in August. Normally, this festival has some interesting names (JCQ played some years ago, Suzi Quatro has played), this year there isn't really anyone other than Quo (and The Wurzles!!! ;-)) that hold any interest. I might visit the town and wander round but not go to the festival. I will be there a few weeks earier thiough at the Upton Blues Festival which if anyone is local to but now aware of, I can certainly recommend - especially if the sun is shining!! I'm even toying with going to the first Upton Ukelele Festival in a few weeks - if things had worked out differently, maybe Rcik would have been there :-(

Not my cup of tea if I'm honest (I'm old enough to remember Tiny Tim! Ghastly! ) but it would have been good to see Rick try something different and on his own.

Ukuleles led to the creating of Traveling Wilburys, so they can't be inherently bad

I’m heading to Switzerland for the festival on the 6th June.
Looks like Quo are getting just over an hour.
One of my oldest friends lives nearby- he invited me out, so I’m looking forward to it

There's a summer festival on the 23rd about a two hour drive from here - on a glider airfield - I'm starting to wonder if we should go ..

Clam tomorrow and Eisenstadt on Sat Enjoy ! - and tell us about them .. Hubby didn't fancy the drive on the 23rd, so we didn't go .. With the acoustic tour last winter cancelled this is the longest time span by far that I haven't seen the band since my return at the start of the 00s.

Just been to the German festival site to check out this summer's festivals (with Quo, naturally ). What has me stunned is that Quo have generated more clicks than everybody else, including Helene Fischer (see right side) : link
Considering Rottweil now ..

was fantastic, esp. Clam!
similar situation for me. last saw electric Quo in Nov 2016 in Passau, no electric gig in 2017 for me (no gig in Austria, and I didn't fancy travelling long distances in the year after Rick died) - with the exception of the Aquostig gig at the Royal Albert Hall, for which I had ordered tickets right when it was announced in late 2016. But Aquostic cannot be compared to an electric gig anyway.
Drums very powerful in the mix, also Richie told me about the changes regarding the drums in Eisenstadt the day after.
