Just a quick report on the gig last Saturday in Kinross. The day was pleasant and sunny. Never expected that! Mrs Mortified and I picked up sis and her hubby and headed straight for the venue; which was actually a hotel with the venue (Backstage at the Green) situated at the back. Spent the afternoon indulging in pleasantries outside in a courtyard partaking of the fermented grape juice. It felt like we were on holiday! Met Mike Hrano inside the hotel later and had a blether about bits and bobs, particularly Mr Parfitt. But you won't get any inside tittle tattle from me Rhino and his fine little beat combo hit the stage at 9 o'clock and roared into One Note Blues quickly followed by Secretary and his always very fine version of Bellavista Man. After that, the set is all a bit of a blur but all the favourites were in there. He did a twice as fast Lucinda - just to see if they could. They could. It was like a punk gig in 1977. Without the waterfall of saliva obviously. Although there were some in the audience of a certain vintage who may have dribbled uncontrollably. At both ends. I recall him saying to the others that they were going to play Strange One next. They didn't. In fact, they never did. Love that unpredictability! They did do a brief version of Mony Mony which actually segued straight into Jungle Love. My own personal highlight was Spacemaker. I love that track. Bad News was mandatory of course and I'm afraid, snakelady , he also did Gravy Train while acknowledging Rick's part in writing it. The encore was a rousing version of Born To Be Wild. If it's good enough for Slade.... A passing mention for Cammy The Morton Fan. Always a pleasure, mate. He was not long back from Germany and the Rossi classical gigs. And also to those nutters from Fife who gave me stick all night for not going to Rewind at Scone Palace. They are a very good laugh and were still in the bar when we retired about 1am shouting out insults such as "lightweights" and "old people" as we retreated. Sat and talked again to Mike Hrano after the gig and Rhino came up and said hello. Just as well he did before Ali lost the power of speech due to alcohol intake of a monumental nature. Kudos, babe A great night with a breakfast the following morning that would have choked a blue whale. I do like my Rhino gigs. Everyone had an absolute blast and "Save the Rhino" will now adorn my back for the entire summer. A very worthy cause and gets my backing 100%. Great venue by the way. A sort of mini hard rock with posters and memorabilia all over the place. It also had three bars! We used them all Roll on the next one. I believe a Quo tribute are playing there in November. It's just up the road. We may make the return journey!

Rhino's "band" have never and will never even approach the song writing talent and utter brilliance live onstage of Slade.

Rhino's "band" have never and will never even approach the song writing talent and utter brilliance live onstage of Slade. I wasn't making a comparison other than pointing out what was played. I was just stating that Slade used to do Born To Be Wild as an encore. It was a throwaway remark, nothing more. Not sure why band is in inverted commas either. Unless it's a direct quote

Hi Billy, it was fantastic to see you guys as well, always a pleasure for me too 👍
Also good to see big Allan ( he’s not on the board) - he was with his brother this time ( he’s normally with his pal) . It was a really enjoyable gig- I like the fact I don’t know what’s coming next necessarily as Rhino mixes it up year to year.
I’d love to hear Bad News in the Quo set instead of Creeping Up. Joe Public won’t miss Creepin Up and it would give the regulars something a bit different .
And Jam Side Down! Hearing these live was great .
And Rhino was gracious enough to have a little chat with me, as was Mike Hrano.
I’d really recommend to anyone to pop along if they havent before as they’ll hear some rocking tunes played by top musicians and they’ll have a lot of fun.

Not knowing what comes next does indeed make a gig so much more exciting ! In that case I'd even tolerate Gravy Train, mortified . I'd love to hear Run And Hide in a Quo set - has Rhino ever played that live ? Thanks for your reports guys

However, the opening track on his last album ( Tomorrow Is Today) I thought was quite similar and he's done that. He didn't actually do all that many songs from Rhino's Revenge II. Only the four I think; One Note Blues, Secretary, My Name Is Stan and Busy Doing Nothin'.

Richie does a fantastic job on BFM too, great to see it back and putting some real rock into the setlist. Roadhouse Blues next please, full version with jig and then Forty Five Hundred Times, full version, lets really see what the guy can do and let Andy really let loose on Hammond.

What do you think of this here, then? Just imagine what could have been...
I cannot but repeat myself, I think Richie has got a great voice for rock.
mortified , do you know how RR's guitarist Craig Joiner is doing? He had a heart attack on stage during the Duisburg gig and had to be replaced by Freddie the following night. I didn't actually know anything about that, Inna. However, on your prompting I had a quick browse. I think he's doing OK. All I can find is that it was a 'suspected' heart attack and that he only couldn't play the last gig of the tour. And, as you say, Freddie stepped in. Hopefully, he'll have a speedy recovery.

Great version of Lonesome Road by the way. Never thought I'd ever hear that live! Yes, @inna, can you just imagine what might have been with tracks of that quality? Good to see Mr P's solo work being acknowledged and performed. Superb.

Gravy Train co-written by Rick? That's a new one to me.

You make me wanna go see Quo again! Francis is playing like a real rock guitarist... holy cow.
