I remember the gig quite well. It was supposed to start at 9:30 live on BBC1 straight after the news, but as it was the time of the Falklands War, the news was extended to 10:00. I remember Mr Windsor and his bored entourage, leaving before the Encore. I also remember my mate getting lost on the way back to Essex from the NEC The gig definitely started at 21:25. I remember that well. This was 1982, you had to run around the NEC to catch the last trains, no link to the station then!! We were posh, my mate had a car!! If you are correct, there was obviously a delay on the broadcast, although I don't believe there was. The pre-gig pictures were in daylight and there would not have been that much of a delay. Not for HRH!! My recollection is the gig started immediately after the 9 o'clock news (ITV had News At Ten in them days, BBC were on at nine). So it would have been around 9:30 when Quo came on. I don't recall a delayed broadcast although it was a long time ago.

Absolutely correct Mr Mortified, WYP was dropped. That sure had to improve the gig I guess you didn't take any photos ? It were the days when cameras weren't allowed and security would search you for them .. They actually still do at Quo gigs (if not for cameras), which I find absolutely ridiculous. Remember a night in Stuttgart not so long ago, when Sting played the neighbouring H.-M.-S.-Halle, so fans of both acts passed through the same gates - and Quo fans were searched while Sting fans were waved through. Myself and Mrs Mortified were at that gig. I can't remember being searched but I might have been. I do remember Grant telling me off for looking at Sting's merchandise. It wasn't all that great though. It was his Symphonicities tour. I'm a fan of the man and was delighted to run into him in the hotel bar after the gig. He and his entourage that is. He had a water. I had a pizza. I also had a Quo t-shirt on and he smiled knowingly

I'd have had to drag Ali kicking and screaming though. She can't stand him

I bought the re-released Live at the NEC CDs last year only to find that Roadhouse Blues wouldn't play. Only the very first and the final bits were/are audible. I asked for a replacement, but got none. Still, I've got the CDs in the car, and I keep on listening to them, and from watching the video, I know every move they make when playing this and that song. Crazy. The Dortmund gig is on the One and Only DVD, but only about eight songs, and the quality is not too good. But the atmosphere was. @inna I'm going to organize a replacement CD for you if you don't mind.

I WILL get a turntable again one day Hi Mortified, Per here, new to this board but a long time member on the old board. There was lots of talk about the gap in Roadhouse Blues when the double cd were released. I wrote to the place I bought mine and they immediately sent me a new (without the gap) for free. You probably also can change yours!

Welcome, Per! I don't post much on here, but I do come and have a read most days. I don't have a lot to say these days!
I had to write to Universal records, showing proof of my Amazon purchase, and they sent me a replacement CD.

Maybe the flawed one will become a rarity. I'll hold on to mine And you can tell when you're getting old when you're convinced you bought the vinyl, you go check it for something and it's not there I could have sworn I bought it. I even remember the shop! But I'm obviously mistaken. Must've been something else I grabbed, although goodness knows what it would have been last year. Mrs Mortified says I've been collecting so long and have so much stuff, I've completely lost track of what I have and what I don't. I need an admin assistant per, lazypokerblues, I was aware of the replacement CD's. I've just never got round to it. Same with the Back To Back remaster which had the wrong Going Downtown Tonight on it as an 'extra'. As it happens, patience sort of paid off when the re-recorded version pitched up on the Pictures.... album. I think

Keep getting tempted to buy the Vinyl version but I soon remind myself that it's just the original release combined with a radio broadcast recording / bootleg for the rest of the gig, Forty Five Hundred Times onwards... would be a pointless purchase

I never bothered getting a replacement Back to Back, and I never bothered buying Pictures, but maybe I'll nip to HMV and see if I can find Pictures in their bargain bin. Or buy it second hand on Amazon for 5p. Would be nice to have a digital version of the guitar solo on GDTT.

There was a Bootleg Double vinyl album of the whole gig around in 83 ish ! I think it was the whole gig. I had copy and the quality was pretty good. It was a weird title and a strange type of cover if my memory serves me. I saw a copy advertised on eBay a couple of years ago. The title of that was Over The Edge and had a very colourful image of a woman looking over a solar system!! Yep that’s the one Col !

It was a weird title and a strange type of cover if my memory serves me. I saw a copy advertised on eBay a couple of years ago. I was at a record fair around '83 or '84 where I saw what they called "the vinyl master" of the gig. It was a double album and had a green and white BBC record label but no official sleeve. I didn't buy it coz I couldn't afford it. I have no idea if it was genuine or not. So I bought a video of the Dortmund gig from '82 taken, presumably, from the German TV broadcast. It was a dud and never played properly. You live and (never) learn Mortified: it sounds to me that it was a real BBC album you saw at that record fair. As far as I know the only bootleg/fake BBC album that has been released is the London, Paris Theatre 1973 gig which I found at a record fair in the late eighties (the same broadcast was also released in the early eighties, with a yellow live photo and with the name Ready Steady Quo). It would have been great to have the double vinyl you once saw, as I prefer the BBC broadcast sound much more than the more polished and cleaned official "Live at the NEC" album

Still got it actually. Although me and a schoolmate listened to the original broadcast one Saturday night in March '73 and he taped it on his new state of the art cassette recorder and on a C90 Wonder if he still has it. Probably not. Wish I'd bought that BBC vinyl now But I think it was about £40 and although that doesn't sound much, it did seem it at the time.
