This song has been playing in my head for days now. I really like it and it's one of my favourites from the OSAAT album. And I wonder why it was dropped on the second solo tour, so in consequence we sadly don't have an official live recording. IMO it was easier for Francis to sing than some of the others, say Sleeping On The Job. Paul Hirsh mentions it was his favourite too in that interview on the blueray's extras. Thanks to Thewayitgoes we at least have recordings from the first solo tour:

Go solo, Francis. Drop the Quo name and go solo. The most interesting Quo related thing in the last 15 years was Francis' solo tour - it was excellent!

I actually wouldn't mind him doing both. Do a solo tour in spring and play the summer festivals with Quo - et voilĂ - everybody happy. In 2010 Francis talked about how much he had enjoyed the solo tours and that he'd love to do one again. Now eight years on we're still waiting .. If Rhino can do it, why not Francis ? Although this spring the time away from Quo is obviously used for the Rock Meets Classic tour. I wonder if Francis is going to do at least one solo song there ? Suppose it's rather improbable though and certainly won't be Here I Go.

That video reminds me how much I enjoyed the album. I haven't played it in ages.
The one gig I did on that solo tour was the best I was at that year. But I have wondered since if that's because I heard Quo songs I never usually do rather than just the solo material. There were one or two massive highlights for me like Diggin' Burt Bacharach and All We Wanna Do and these seem to stand out in my memory.
I think there is room for him to do both now but does he have the inclination? I'm not sure. His very brief answers to questions in the last two issues of FTMO tell me he is just not interested any more. In almost anything!

Hope that was just him trying to get over the loss of Rick .. And I do remember that very same gig differently - I went yes, yesss ! with every new song that was started. The choice of Quo songs he played was exactly to my taste I've got to admit, but the solo stuff too fitted in well live. I did like the OSAAT album, but thought the songs sounded even better live - basically exactly the same as with A1 and the Roundhouse gig. In both cases I prefer the live recording and don't listen to the original albums any more.

Hope that was just him trying to get over the loss of Rick ..I mentioned it to Yvonne who puts together the FTMO and she said it was just that. He appreciated that this was Rick's issue and wanted it concentrate on that above anything else. When he does his solo album, she won't be able to shut him up I read too much into it, which I usually do with Francis! He can be an enigma and it's actually part of his charm.

Part of me thought it would have been good to hear some comments from some of the band about Rick's album.....but then again maybe not! I suppose she could have picked the positive comments out and kept them!

I suppose she could have picked the positive comments out and kept them! We've never had them commenting on solo stuff from one of the others and that's how it should stay IMO. Why make a difference now - just because it's Rick ? One's there job and the other, the solo stuff, is kind of the hobby. In any case I'm not sure it would be wise if they commented on that particular album. You know Francis would've been criticised whatever his opinion. If it were positive he'd be considered condescending and if it were negative he'd simply be envious. Better he keeps it to himself .. similar goes for the others. Hm, what does all this have to do with Here I Go .. ?
