I said somewhere else that we weren't going to travel abroad to see Quo this year. Then they go and announce a gig in a city I've always wanted to go to. I now need to have a think and go count the pennies in the teapot under the bed. Interestingly - well to me at any rate - it's in an old bullfighting ring. I've since discovered that the Portuguese bullfighting differed from the Spanish version in at least one important aspect. The bull wasn't killed! Apparently this was decreed by King Something or Other (Michael?) back in the mid 1800's as he thought it inhumane. Good man. So there you go. History lesson for the day. And cover those books for Friday or it's detention. And 50 lines. And, no, not in the Quo sense

Your post prompted me to go and have a look at the Status Quo web site for tour dates. For a band who's 'having a quiet year' they've sure got a busy summer period

They're playing some interesting places; Canary Islands, Lisbon, Czech Republic.
But yeah; looks as busy as ever. Fewer UK gigs maybe but no real surprise there.
I had to look up that "Carfest" as well. Never heard of it. But it sounds similar to Rewind given the line up.

Hope I'm not sounding like Alan Whicker and certainly not Judith Chalmers but I've been to Lisbon!
Didn't know what to expect really but was greatly impressed by the city. The older I get, the more content I am walking about cities and just taking everything in.
To go to a city like that AND to see Quo too would be great, I think.

I've done my homework already Flights are a bit of an issue. There are none direct from Edinburgh on the day of the gig or the day before which means an extra night's stay which, in turn, adds to the cost; hotel room, meals, fabulous Portuguese wine

IF you do go to Lisbon, don’t get fooled by the Blues Bar.
When I was there 10 years ago it was a club playing anything but blues!!
