I like it, and it sets well in the head after a couple nonstop of runs

OK, I gave in and listened as it's a whole song and not just a snippet. Rock'n'roll ! Trying to make Rick's voice sound like that 70s singing voice he once had. No idea how they've done it, but nice, took me by surprise.

Really enjoyable song, catchy & melodic. Not Quo but it was never going to be, looking forward to hearing the entire album, cranking up the volume & sitting back to enjoy a last listen to the legendary Mr Parfitt.

Hm, not sure what to make of the song, yet. But then I've only listened to it the once ( quocupsncafe.proboards.com/thread/6186/long-distance-love ). I'm quite sure the lyrics are NOT about/for his wife (widow), though... As I've already mentioned in another thread about the album on here, it seems to be a very personal album, lyric-wise. Doesn't make for easy listening... By the way, where are we supposed to post topics regarding Rick's posthumous album - in the Rick section or in the Solo Projects section? I know I've posted this and that link in the Rick section over recent weeks, but one or two of them have mysteriously disappeared. I'm glad, though, that smokie 's link to Johnny Main's review is still there. Other members have started their threads about Over & Out in the Quo or Solo section. I'm confused. (No, not really. ) I usually only read a handful of topics and try to answer, others I don't notice, sometimes for days - because I simply don't have the time. I move topics when I see they're in the wrong section. If I don't, I won't .. Generally speaking my attitude towards topics about Rick is, that if they're something like the Chris Wolstenholme topic, remembering him one way or other, they belong into the In Memoriam RP section. His songs and albums on the other hand should be posted in either the Songs and Records or the Solo section - depending on whether they were solo projects or written for the band. He may not have seen this new solo album finished, but he didn't make it in memoriam of himself. Hope that makes it clear and you agree. I shall have a look for wrongly posted topics there and move them. Concerning the lyrics - could be schizophrenic Rick again: He longs for the family life at home with wife and children and then can't bear it and destroys it (again) when he has it - one of the reoccurring themes in his life ..

Magnificent! If that was on a new Quo album I'd be happy as a pig in $hit and VERY enthusiastic! In fact, I'm treating this solo project like I would a Quo album anyway. I do with all members of the band. I can tell already that those involved and those who contributed have made a fine legacy on behalf of the great man. And watching the images of Rick and hearing his voice brought a lump to even this old cynic's throat. They've presumably tinkered with his voice. Rick couldn't hit some of those notes in the last couple of years. I dare say they did it on Quo albums as well. But who cares? You use everything at your disposal to make it all sound as good as it can. As for the lyrics, I'm not sure they're about anything or anyone in particular. Rick has always written 'love' songs and about being away on the road. Cannae wait!

Hi guys
This was one of the John David songs on the album, so we shouldn’t read too much into the lyrics in terms of it being personal.
I like it....sounds like it could have been from Ain’t Complaining
Opening riff reminds me a bit of Lean Machine.
Ironically , the solo sounds very Francis to me and little bits of it remind me of the solo to Over and One

One of? What are the others?

The solo is very much in the Francis style but it's also much more fluid than Francis tends to be. Funnily enough, the bass sounds like Rhino in full flow as well. Just have to wait and see who gets credited with what. It's all academic of course. Especially if the rest of the album is as good as this. And the snippets we've all heard suggest it just might be. If any of this stuff was put forward for Quo and rejected, someone wants their fvckin' head looked at!

Found the Interview with .John David.
He sent Rick 15 songs in total.
Interesting that Rick told him he quit Quo as he wanted to rock as opposed to not being able to play live any life.
I suspect it’s the latter as in his sky interview Rick said that he couldn’t tax himself on stage and this ties in with Simon Porter who had pencilled in “ an evening with” as opposed to a tour.
Although “an evening with” may have been for the proposed book.
Or maybe book and album.
I guess we’ll never know for sure

Everybody Knows How to Fly is on John Davids 2011 album, Rollin Home, so not written especially for Ricks. It's a good record and also includes All That Counts, Kick me When I'm Down and Rollin Home.

Actually I should've noticed it's a John David song. It's got all the typical ingredients - mainly the pleasant catchy melody and the way the lyrics work. I still wonder how they made Rick's voice sound like this, but I guess the technical possibilities these days are endless nearly.

Mrs Mortified has been off her music for a while. Seems to have lost her enthusiasm for it. But I played her this and she loves it. She's not getting the Haupstadtrocker t-shirt out of the box set though. Not unless she bucks her ideas up a bit

Just wondering.

I haven't received my album yet....but from what I know, 6 of the songs were written with Jo Webb (so after June 2016), 2 were by John David, and two are from Recorded Delivery (one of which was used as a Quo b-side). So I don't think they were (rejected).
